Zetton[2][3] (ゼットン) is a beetle-like Kaiju that first appeared in the final episode of the series Ultraman. First appearing in the series as the bioweapon invasion monster of the Zetton aliens, Zetton is considered to be the most powerful monster in the original Ultraman series, and made many future appearances. However, more powerful Kaiju have appeared since then, though numerous stronger forms of Zetton have also been introduced throughout the course of the series as well.

Etymology

The name "Zetton" is derived from "Zetto" (ゼット - a Japanese pronunciation of the English letter "Z"), "to" (と), Japanese for "and", and the Japanese character for "N" (ん/ン). Collected, the words spell "Zetto-to-n", shortened to "Zetton". The concept has a "final" theme: "Zetto" is the Japanese pronunciation for the final letter of the English alphabet, "Z". "N" is the transliteration of the Japanese kana , which is pronounced the same as the English "N", is the only kana which does not use a vowel sound, and in Standard Japanese is never used to begin words, instead commonly being used as a final syllable, as in Japanese every word must either end with a vowel or an N. In other words, Zetton is the "Z" and the "N", the last and final monster.[5]

Design

Designed by Tohl Narita, Zetton's suit bears a resemblance to western gladiator armor and insects (mainly beetles and cockroaches). Zetton's carapace design is based on that of an Asian long-horned beetle.[5]

History

Ultraman

ZettonUltraman

Zetton in Ultraman

After the SSSP thwarted Alien Zettons' evil plot, their HQ suffered severe damage in the process due to the Zettonian's alien vessels. Adding to the Science Patrol's difficulties, one of the aliens infiltrates the headquarters and subdues Doctor Iwamoto. The Alien Zetton then shapeshifts to disguise itself as Doctor Iwamoto, knocks out SSSP team member Akiko Fuji, and sabotages much of the Science Patrol's communication equipment and scientific instruments. The SSSP eventually chases down the alien and Shin Hayata shoots it in the head with his Mars 133 gun and kills it. However, before dying, the alien manages to utter the word "Zetton". Doctor Iwamoto and Fuji manage to recover. The one ship that evades the Patrol emerges from underground and surfaces just outside of SSSP, releasing Zetton to finish the job. Hayata transforms into Ultraman for one last time.

Ultraman and Zetton battle but Zetton easily withstands each of his attacks until Ultraman falls, his Color Timer was damaged by Zetton after absorbing and turning the Spacium Beam right back at Ultraman. Ultraman falls unconscious and, left prone on Earth's surface, faces the prospect of dying without direct stellar radiation to revive him. Zetton proceeds to directly attack the Science Patrol Headquarters, smashing a window and starting several fires within the building through the use of his Light Bullets. However, Doctor Iwamoto presents a newly-developed anti-gravity missile. Science Patrol member Daisuke Arashi shoots the weapon at Zetton and succeeds in destroying it.

With Ultraman at death's door, he is suddenly saved by his superior, Zoffy, who comes to Earth in a Travel Sphere to rescue him. He not only restores Ultraman's life, but separates him from Hayata's body, restoring his life as well. Zoffy then flies Ultraman back to their home world on the Land of Light in the Nebula M78.

Trivia

Zetton black face

A "black faced" Zetton

  • Suit actor: Teruo Aragaki
  • There is a scene right before Zetton's destruction where all of his yellow is black instead.
  • The original ending of the battle between Ultraman and Zetton was to end with Zetton killing Ultraman by destroying his Color Timer, instead of Ultraman falling unconscious, then for Zetton to be destroyed by Zoffy. However, Tsuburaya rejected the ending for being too violent.
    • In Ultraman Fighting Evolution 3, Zoffy can destroy Zetton after Ultraman is defeated if Ultraman activated all three of his special attacks (Catch Rings, Ultra Slash, and Spacium Beam) before being defeated.
  • There are several conflicting reports as to the location of Zetton's eyes. Some believe that they are the two lights on his chest, others state that is the yellow line on its face, other state that they are in the two rectangular depressions on his head.[6] Most recently, the Blu-ray release of Ultraman X supports the latter assessment, stating that Zetton's eyes are located in the depressions.
  • He is one of the few monsters who can speak, however, it seems he is only capable of saying his own name accompanied by various beeping noises.
  • Zetton's breathing sounds are derived from Kemur's breathing noises, while the beeping sounds were were modified from the SSPP's telephone ringtone, which in turn is reused from the bell-like roar of King Ghidorah's Showa era incarnation.
  • Although Tsuburaya states that Zetton's fireballs are one trillion degrees hot, it is actually not physically possible, as a moving object that hot will be able to turn its surrounding air into plasma, increasing friction, thus making the fireball even hotter. At the distance Zetton launched his fireballs at the SSSP Base and Ultraman, the result would have been a nuclear explosion, yet the result does not fully demonstrate it, with the fireballs only being able to smash some of the base's windows and start a small fire inside the building.
  • Zetton was originally going to be a "warm-up" monster before Ultraman fought the original final monster, Saigo. Zetton would have still killed Ultraman. The two were swapped as the producers thought that Zetton had a better design and made him the final monster.
    • This would explain Zetton's odd title of Space Dinosaur, as he does not resemble a dinosaur while Saigo looks much more like one.
  • According to several books, the original Zetton may be a chimera of some kind, supposedly having DNA and attributes like Antlar and Saigo for the face, its stomach come from Keylla, arms and legs from Red King, its back carapace from Kemular, its black coloring from Alien Mefilas, and its Zetton Barrier from Alien Baltan II. If this is the case, Zetton would replace Jumbo King as the first chimera monster in the series.
  • Interestingly, as Bemular is the first monster, both it and Zetton first appearances featured them coming out of a blue sphere of some kind. Bemular's method of travel is a blue sphere meanwhile Zetton's entrance had a growing blue sphere until it exploded, releasing it.
  • Zetton's suit appears in Ultraman Leo episode 9 as part of the Monster Corps Show.
  • In a popularity ranking held through out September, 200 Ultra Kaiju where ranked. Zetton won the number 1 spot. Zetton himself accepted the award next to the number 3 and 4th place winners, Gomora and Alien Baltan, while number 2, Jugglus Juggler did not appear.

Return of Ultraman

Zetton II

Zetton Ⅱ

Zetton reappeared in the series finale of Return of Ultraman as Zetton Ⅱ (ゼットン二代目, Zetton Nidaime). At least according to Zoffy in Ultraman Retsuden episode 39, this Zetton was modified by Alien Bat.

In his plot to conquer Earth, Alien Bat brought forth Zetton Ⅱ to have him aid him in his invasion of Earth, knowing of the fear that Ultras now carry from Zetton I's victory over the original Ultraman. Even Ultraman Jack was unwilling to fight back out of the fearful legacy brought about by Zetton I, even refusing to allow Hideki Go to transform into him to do so. MAT arrived to attack Zetton Ⅱ but their weapons were powerless against the juggernaut even though it was the humans themselves who defeated Zetton I with their missile weapon. However after gaining enough courage by watching Go and MAT in action, Ultraman Jack appeared to fight both Alien Bat and Zetton Ⅱ. Even though the two aliens overpowered him, MAT was there to assist the Ultra and Jack continued fighting until he impaled Alien Bat with the Ultra Cross. He then defeated Zetton with the Ultra Hurricane and firing the Spacium Beam at the vulnerable Kaiju in the air, obliterating Zetton Ⅱ, ending the Third Age of Monsters, proving that Zetton could be defeated by an Ultra, and ending the unsettled fear the Ultras had for Zetton.

Trivia

  • This suit's design differs from the original - Zetton Ⅱ is fatter and his horns are bigger and much more floppy than the ones on the original. This Zetton is also much bulkier, and his hands more resemble rectangular claws rather than the "mitten" look of the original Zetton's hands. The ends of Zetton II's hands also have small holes for his Gasoline Missiles to be fired from.
  • Ultraman Jack and Zetton Ⅱ's battle was referenced in episode 10 of Ultraman Ace.
  • Zetton Ⅱ appears in Taiketsu! Ultra Hero.
    • Zetton Ⅱ uses Black King's roar in the game.
  • This Zetton is the first Zetton to be called Zetton II; the second was in Revive! Ultraman.
  • It is unknown why MAT didn't use the weapon that destroyed the original Zetton to defeat the second Zetton although if they did, that would prove they could have mass produced it and probably have used it on a of majority monsters thus somewhat making Ultraman obsolete.
    • Additionally, the reason why the SSSP didn't mass-produce the weapon in the first place is unknown. Perhaps the reason why this happened is because they were afraid that the mass-produced weapons could fall into the wrong hands and be used for the wrong reasons. They also didn't know that a second Zetton existed in the first place and they most likely thought it useless to make more after killing the first one. Additionally, it is possible that the SSSP believes that with Zetton's defeat, it would be the last they would see of monsters and alien invaders.
  • According to the Ultra Soft Vinyl Super Picture Book, an Ultra Monster Series Zetton II figure was planned for release before it was scrapped.

The Ultraman Mebius

As revealed later on in a side novel from Ultraman Mebius, the Zetton II's attack on Earth was part of the Ultra Annihilation Project carried out by the Planet Bat Federal Army to assassinate the Ultra Brothers after the Alien Bat race was denied from sharing the benefits of Ultraman Hikari's Life Solidification Technology, hence labelling the Residents of the Land of Light as "traitors" in retaliation.

The Planet Bat Federal Army unleashed an entire troop of Zettons towards the Land of Light in their war against the Ultra Warriors. One of the participants in the defending side was a young Ultraman Mebius. The battle ended with the Ultra Warriors winning, but nevertheless, both sides suffered heavy losses.

Andro Melos

The first Zetton that fought the original Ultraman prior was resurrected by the Gua Army as part of their ranks, designated as the Revived Zetton (再生ゼットン, Saisei Zetton) by the magazine.

Its sole appearance was in July 1981 issue, fighting Andro Melos with the help of Guwaganda. The two monsters try to fuse into Combined Zetton (合体ゼットン, Gattai Zetton), but the fusion was killed by Cosmo Aura. As it was not a cyborg, the Revived Zetton was absent in the Flaming Car Tactic carried out by the revived cyborg members of the Gua Army.

Ultraman: The Ultimate Hero

Zetton Powered

Zetton, as seen in Ultraman: The Ultimate Hero

Zetton appeared in the series finale of Ultraman: The Ultimate Hero, as Powered Zetton (パワードゼットン, Pawādo Zetton).

In this series, Zetton was a machine created by Alien Baltan to kill Ultraman Powered but was left dormant until he was awoken by another experiment by the Baltans, Dorako. Shortly after Dorako was destroyed, Zetton came to earth and attacked WINR's base (Much like how the original Zetton attacked the Science Patrol's HQ.) The Military soon arrived to assist WINR, but none of their weapons was enough to even harm the super weapon, who destroyed everything in his sights. Powered revived without Kenichi Kai as his host and tried to fight back only to be battered around by Zetton too. Finally after tricking Zetton into turning his back, Powered found an opening and destroyed Zetton with a Mega Spacium Beam to his back, but at the cost of his own life from using up all of his own energy.

Trivia

  • This version was designed to be more robotic and possesses giant wing-like appendages on his back. His arms are incredibly thin and he is much taller than Ultraman Powered whereas the original Zetton was more to Ultraman's size.
  • This version of Zetton is the first one to have the ability to shoot fireballs.
  • The fact that Powered Zetton has wings suggests that perhaps the original Zetton has wings, hence the wing shells on it's back, but there has never been a case of Powered Zetton flying with wings.
  • Despite being the one who defeated Ultraman Powered, he is not the monster who had the most success in defeating him. The title belongs to Dorako, as shown, he was the only one in the series that made Ultraman Powered retreat and separate with his host, so if it wasn't for Dorako, Zetton would not have been able to defeat him, as he could have retreated back into Kai if he didn't separate with him.

Ultraman Max

Zetton Max

Zetton, as seen in Ultraman Max

Zetton reappeared in episode 13 of the series Ultraman Max.

Called to earth by an Alien Zetton, this Zetton came to Earth in the form of a blue fireball and began to rampage through the city he was in. Both Ultraman Max and DASH tried to fight back only to have their attacks be proven futile by Zetton's immense power and strength and the majority of Max's power was spent in battle against the monster to the point where Max was powerless and at death's door. Soon enough, Ultraman Xenon (Max's superior from M78) arrived and fought against Zetton to a standstill. During the fight, Ultraman Xenon called for a weapon to assist him, but Zetton intercepted and attacked Xenon, unaware that the weapon was presented to Max. The weapon, known as the "Max Galaxy" strong enough to penetrate Zetton's force field and with it, The monster was destroyed by Max's newly presented Max Galaxy.

Trivia

  • During Ultraman Max and Zetton's battle, a music score known as "Redrum" played, created by Immediate Music (a company that creates music for movie trailers plays in the background.) Coincidentally, this same music was played for the trailer of Godzilla: Final Wars which was released in theaters around the time of Ultraman Nexus.
  • In a DVD Special known as "Ultraman Max Super Battle!" Ultraman Max battles against Zetton and Red King. The two monsters team up to take out Max. But in the end, Red King is knocked unconscious and Max kills Zetton with the Maxium Sword.

Ultraman Mebius

Maquette Zetton

Zetton appeared in the Ultraman Mebius TV series in episode 27 "Champion of the Fierce Fight".

In this series, Zetton is one of many prototype Maquette Monsters which were to be tested in hopes that they will be useful to GUYS defend Japan in the future. However, the capsule that contained Zetton was dropped by accident and was also plugged into GUYS computer network without any of the GUYS knowing it was broken. The accident results in Zetton going out of control as it tries to destroy GUYS's central computer system. GUYS tries to fight back with a Maquette of Ultraman Mebius himself, but the Maquette Mebius is confused into attacking with his Mebium Shoot, which is reflected back and defeats the Maquette Ultra (in Zetton's signature style.) Soon enough, the real Mebius enters GUYS's computer network and tries to take care of Zetton himself, only to not realize how tough of an opponent Zetton was. GUYS soon assisted Mebius by sending their Maquette Monsters; Miclas and Windom to help him. The out of control Zetton was then deleted by a combination of Miclas' Electrical Shock, Windom's Laser Shot, and Ultraman Mebius' Lightning Counter Zero.

Trivia

  • The Zetton suit from Ultraman Max was reused for Zetton's battle in the series.
  • During the battle between the Maquette Ultraman Mebius's battle against the Manquette Zetton, Zetton reflects the Maquette Mebius's Mebium Shoot back at him is a nod as to how the original Zetton defeated Ultraman.
  • Ultraman Mebius's battle against the Maquette Zetton is a tribute to the show Gridman the Hyper Agent (which is another show created and produced by Tsuburaya Productions).
  • Although he became evil due to being dropped and broken, this is one of only two times in which Zetton was initially intended to be used for good.

Ultra Galaxy Mega Monster Battle

Zetton Galaxy

Kate and Zetton

Zetton appeared in episodes 12 and 13 of the series Ultra Galaxy Mega Monster Battle.

In this series Zetton was the last of Kate's Battlenizer monsters after her Fire Golza and Gan-Q were defeated by Rei's monsters and the ZAP SPACY. Zetton definitely proved to also be her strongest as well, easily manhandling all of Rei's monsters (Gomora, Litra, and Eleking) without showing much signs of fatigue or physical harm for most of the battle. Rei is forced to surrender in order to save his monsters from death, only to receive the respect of Kate and another rematch with her. Rei and Kate's final battle involved Gomora vs. Zetton to which Zetton clearly had the strength advantage, overpowering Gomora and blocking all of his attacks. However before Zetton could finish him off he was attacked by King Joe Black and the two fought to a stand-still. After a short while, Gomora transforms into EX Gomora and dominates both Zetton and King Joe Black, and in the end King Joe Black is gouged and weakened by EX Gomora's tail and Zetton is destroyed by EX Gomora's EX Ultra Oscillation Wave.

Trivia

Ultra Galaxy Mega Monster Battle: Never Ending Odyssey

Illsuion Zetton

Illusion Zetton

Zetton returned in episode 3 of the series Ultra Galaxy Mega Monster Battle: Never Ending Odyssey as Illusion Zetton.

In this series, Zetton appears, but not as himself. He as conjured up as a hypnotic illusion created by Alien Nackle's Galberos in an attempt to weaken Rei and his Gomora from fighting him. (It is believed that he also used this strategy to kill an Arstron that belonged to an Alien Zelan earlier in their appearance.) Whenever it would appear that Gomora was victorious, Zetton would "return" even after being destroyed and continue attacking them, eventually pushing Rei into transforming into Reimon to better his chances of defeating him, with obviously no success. After a while, both Reimon and Gomora were weakened enough for Nackle and Galberos to reveal themselves and the Zetton illusions disappeared.

Trivia

  • The Zetton suit from Ultraman Max was reused for Zetton's battle in the series.
  • During the opening credits to the series, Zetton is seen battling Tyrant, even though neither monster fought or met each other in the series.

Ultraman Mebius Gaiden: Ghost Rebirth

EX Zetton tall 1

EX Zetton

Zetton reappeared in the prequel to Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy Legends The Movie, Ultraman Mebius Gaiden: Ghost Rebirth as EX Zetton (EX ゼットン, Ī Ekkusu Zetton).

In the prequel to the above film, Ultraman Mebius and Mechazam must face off against an EX Zetton that acts as the legendary bodyguard and keeper to the Giga Battlenizer, which was sealed away in the Valley of Flames. At first, EX Zetton manages to overwhelm both Mebius and Mechazam and does manage to mortally weakened Mechazam inside the flames that surrounded him, Ultraman Mebius and Mechazam continue to work together and both manage to knock EX Zetton off the narrow platform they are fighting on and EX Zetton is destroyed by the flames that surrounded them.

Trivia

  • Although this is EX Zetton's first appearance in the show, EX Zetton originally started off as a game character for Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Coliseum and as an action figure for the Bandai toy line. EX Zetton is also the first (and so far only) original EX monster that was created outside of Ultraman Fighting Evolution Rebirth.
  • According to several tours that were made to promote the film, the legitimate EX Zetton suit was used sparingly during some shows.
  • Several reports from the set stated that the EX Zetton suit was very hard to maneuver in and the actor inside would often fall over due to the weight on the shoulders. This may be a reason why this variant of Zetton has never made any future appearances in the Ultraman Series until Ultra Galaxy Fight: The Absolute Conspiracy.
  • This is the first time that Zetton is an antihero rather than a villain, as he was supposed to keep the Giga Battlenizer from everyone, rather than interfering with Mebius' attempt to get it.
  • EX Zetton is the only good Kaiju that did not become evil nor became possessed that was fought by a good Ultra.

Zetton in Belial's 100 Monster Army

Zetton reappeared in the movie Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy Legends The Movie.

Zetton is one of Ultraman Belial's 100 Monster Army. He was first seen as spirit reacting to the Plasma Spark in the Monster Graveyard along with King Guesra, Telesdon, Sadola, Jasyuline, and Angross. He then teamed up with Alien Baltan, Gomess, Magular, King Guesra, Antlar, Twin Tail, Gudon, Arigera, King Goldras, and King Silvergon to take on Ultraman. Zetton was called back by Belial to watch Reionic Burst Gomora fight the Ultras and was sent back along with the remaining surviving monsters to take down Ultraman Zero. He was killed by Zero in the final battle, and the fifth of the six last monsters to fall to Zero's Zero Slugger Attack after Fire Golza, Alien Valky, King Joe Black, Alien Guts, and followed by Tyrant, making Zetton the second-to the last monster in the 100 Monster Army who was killed, second to Tyrant (or third if you count Belyudra).

Trivia

  • The Zetton suit from Ultraman Max was reused for Zetton's battle in the film.
  • T pose king

    Zetton

Zetton is one of the monsters that makes up Belyudra's neck in the film.
    • In two scenes that were showing some body-shots of Belyudra, in the second shot, he is seen in the body of Belyudra flailing around along with King Guesra, Birdon, Pandon, Zaragas, Antlar, Doragory and Red King. Although half of these monsters are not in the body: Pandon is part of his right horn and Red King is part of his left horn.
  • Zetton can be seen along with Alien Baltan, Red King, Antlar, Verokron, Vakishim, and Zoa Muruchi in a close-up of Ultraman Belial's Giga Battlenizer.

Ultraman Saga

Zetton reappeared in the film, Ultraman Saga, as a more powerful version of itself, Hyper Zetton (ハイパーゼットン, Haipā Zetton).

Giganto Zetton

Hyper Zetton (Gigant)

Hyper Zetton (Gigant) is the larval form of Hyper Zetton that appeared in Ultraman Saga. It was hatched after Alien Bat empowered and fed it the Spheres that he kidnapped from the World of Neo Frontier Space. Having already defeated Ultraman Dyna prior to the appearances of Ultraman Cosmos and Ultraman Zero, Alien Bat cocooned Hyper Zetton (Gigant), allowing his creation to feed off the despair of the last remaining humans on Earth in order to become stronger. After the failures of Arstron, Gubila, and Gomess (S) against the Ultras, Alien Bat revealed Hyper Zetton (Gigant) inside its cocoon to everyone and unleashed it against Cosmos and Zero in battle. Despite having one of his Dark Fireball spheres destroyed, Hyper Zetton (Gigant) managed to kill Cosmos and was far more superior in strength compared to Ultraman Zero. With the help of Team U, Ultraman Dyna was revived by reuniting his Lieflasher with his statue and the Ultra was quick to save Zero and revive Cosmos.

Imago Hyper Zetton

Hyper Zetton (Imago)

With the three Ultras now working together, Hyper Zetton (Gigant) was ultimately killed by the Final Ultimate Zero Trinity. However, Hyper Zetton (Gigant)'s demise was not permanent, as Alien Bat would fuse both his fortress and himself with his creation, transforming what remained of Hyper Zetton (Gigant) into Hyper Zetton (Imago). Despite losing a vast majority of his natural strength, Hyper Zetton's heavily increased speed allowed him to easily trounce the three Ultras with his fighting skills and abilities and ultimately manages to kill Ultraman Zero. However the three hosts (Taiga, Musashi, and Asuka) managed to form a nexus with their hearts, and the three Ultra hosts became one almighty Ultra: Ultraman Saga.

Then, in the director's cut, Hyper Zetton released the absorbed Spheres and used them to unleash five Monster Weapons (怪獣兵器, Kaijū Heiki) that Alien Bat made through monster corpses. The monsters in question were Antlar, King Pandon, Black King, Verokron, and Tyrant. These monsters were confronted by the Ultra Brothers.

Despite the Ultras merging though, Saga's own strength and abilities were only matched with Hyper Zetton's strength and abilities, making their battle a standstill. With the additional assistance of Team U setting a trap earlier on, Hyper Zetton was temporarily distracted, allowing Ultraman Saga to slice off Hyper Zetton's wings, severely weakening the monster. Without the abilities his wings carried, Hyper Zetton and Alien Bat tried to escape the Earth by penetrating its atmosphere, but Saga caught up with the monster, and after a beatdown, Hyper Zetton and Alien Bat were destroyed by Ultraman Saga's Saga Maximum attack.

Trivia

  • Hyper Zetton's roar used Zetton's roar, only it was a deeper and distorted roar.
  • The original idea for Hyper Zetton was a three-staged being called Beast Zetton (ビーストゼットン, Bīsuto Zetton). All of its forms would have been able to fly at high speeds with the final form almost dragon-like.
  • Hyper Zetton (Imago)'s bellows were intended to be red, but were changed to the yellow-orange color of the earlier variations so that it could be recognized as Zetton at a glance.

Ultraman Ginga

Dark Spark War

Zetton during Dark Spark War

Prior to the TV series, Zetton participated in the Dark Spark War, fighting alongside various monsters against Ultras. He once again fought Ultraman, and both were equally matched. However, suddenly in the midst of the great battle, an unknown evil appeared and turned every Ultras and Kaiju into Spark Dolls. Town of Falling Stars

Zetton, EX Zetton, Hyper Zetton and Fire Zetton Spark Dolls were seen in Dark Lugiel's collection alongside many others.

Alien Magma, a remnant (rejected) minion of Dark Lugiel tried to use Chigusa Kuno to DarkLive into Zetton. When she failed thanks to Kenta Watarai, Alien Magma used the Spark Doll on his own and trying to use Zetton's power to destroy Japan. However, both Chigusa and Kenta use Ultraman and Ultraman Tiga to battle the destroyer in space. As it seemed that they would win the fight, Alien Magma ejected from Zetton and struck Chigusa/Ultraman from behind, while Zetton moved on his own and proceeded with the plan. In the end he is reverted to his Spark Doll form alongside Zetton after Ginga arrived and turned the tables. Both Alien Magma and Zetton decided to become Ginga's pupil, which the Ultra agreed to and flew away with them. Friends Left Behind

Trivia

  • Despite given the fact that cursed Spark Dolls should be returned to space, Zetton's doll in Alien Magma's possession seemed to have no effect.

Hyper Zetton appeared in Ultraman Ginga S episode 14, as the final MonsLived Kaiju of the series.

Originally part of Alien Chibull Exceller's collection, Hyper Zetton's Spark Doll was given to Alien Zetton Berume and challenged Ultraman Ginga and Ultraman Victory to fight him but for some reason, he went to the place where UPG kept their Victorium Cannon instead. Soon Hikaru transformed into Ultraman Ginga and fought him but Zetton had the advantage by using his quick teleportation to avoid Ginga's strikes and striking back quickly. Soon Ginga transformed into Ginga Strium and fired his Spacium Beam at him but Zetton absorbed it and fired it back at him. After the two of them duked it out for a little while longer, Sho transformed into Ultraman Victory to help him out by pointing out where Hyper Zetton teleported to. He summon EX Red King Knuckle, later Eleking tail where he hold Hyper Zetton. Ultraman Taro quickly advised Hikaru to use all of the Ultra Brothers' powers, summoning Cosmo Miracle Ray. Though Berume/Hyper Zetton predicted the attack but the firepower absorbed was too much to handle and finally exploded. Hyper Zetton's Spark Doll was recovered but Berume survived and off to join the Dark Lugiel Rangers, secretly betraying his leader.

Trivia

  • Hyper Zetton was the final MonsLived Spark Doll to appear in the series.
  • Hyper Zetton's appearance in this series shows that some Hyper Zettons naturally do not have wings.

Ultraman X

X Vs Zetton

Zetton returns in this series as himself and another variant of himself, Cyber Zetton (サイバーゼットン, Saibā Zetton).

Zetton first appeared fighting Ultraman X in his Cyber Eleking armor when that didn't work, X switched to his Cyber Gomora armor but not even that was enough to stop Zetton as he countered back with his super strength and Zetton Shutter. After he was attacked by Xio's Sky Musketty and Ultlaser, however, instead of finishing off X, he vanished.

Suddenly, after Xio successfully created the Cyber Zetton Cyber Card with Zetton's Spark Doll, Zetton reappeared in area T-8 and X reappeared as well to fight him. While the Sky Musketty kept Zetton busy, the lab members of Xio, along with a new member, transferred the Cyber Zetton card to X to access his Cyber Zetton armor. However, something went wrong: the armor was somehow immobilizing X, allowing Zetton to fire his fireballs on the city. Turns out, that the new member was really an Alien Sran in disguise being revealed by none other than Ultraman Max in the form of his human host, Kaito Touma. After transforming to save a mother and child, Max faced off against Zetton in an epic brawl. Unfortunately, X's new armor controlled him so he can fight Max alongside Zetton, putting Max in a dire situation. What's worse is after being shot by Xio, Sran transformed into his giant form and overpowered Max until Daichi used Cyber Eleking's Cyber Card to help overcome the corrupted program and defended Max with his Zetton Shutter.

With X and Daichi in control again, they took on Zetton while Max took on Alien Sran. With both X and Zetton evened out by their abilities, it wasn't until Max defeated Sran with the Galaxy Cannon that X turned the tides on Zetton and eventually defeated the monster with his Xanadium Beam after freeing himself from the Zetton Armor.

In the final episode of Ultraman X, after Greeza destroyed the Xio base, Zetton's Spark Doll was absorbed by Greeza and the alien copied Zetton's 1 Trillion Degree Fireball as a result. After speaking out to Gomora and striking Greeza right in the center of his chest, Zetton, along with all of the other Spark Dolls, traveled to X and united with him. Cyber Zetton's power and right arm were used to help form the Hybrid Armor and power up the Ultimate Xanadium to defeat Greeza once and for all. Zetton, along with the numerous other Cyber Cards and Spark Dolls, then appeared and thanked Daichi as he thanked them.

Zetton's Cyber Card was later used by one of the Xio members in Ultraman X The Movie: Here He Comes! • The Zetton in this series uses a Zetton Shutter that is very similar to that of his Max incarnation. As stated by episode director Yuichi Abe in the audio commentary for this episode on the Blu-Ray DVD release, it is because this Zetton IS the Max version that Quila brought to X's world. The fact that this is the case is interesting seeing how Quila himself may not have been in this episode without him being in Ultraman Ginga S The Movie: Showdown! The 10 Ultra Warriors!, whose spot was originally going to be taken up by Zetton. This was changed since Zetton did not originate from Max and the next choice's suit, Lagoras, being unusable due to age and deterioration.
    • The color of the Zetton Shutter being yellow could be a reference to the original Zetton's Zetton Barrier.

Ultraman Orb

Two variations of Zetton reappears in the new series, Ultraman Orb, as a Lord Monster Maga-Zetton (マガゼットン) and Hyper Zetton Deathscythe (ハイパーゼットン デスサイス, Haipā Zetton Desusaisu). While not the original Kaiju itself, a Zetton Kaiju Card was used alongside Pandon (and optionally, Maga-Orochi's tail) to create Zeppandon.

Maga-Zetton

Maga Zetton orb

Maga-Zetton

Maga-Zetton was one of the Lord Monsters created by Maga-Orochi, representing the element of Light. It was sealed away by Ultraman in the ancient past.

As Gai journeyed to Rusalka due to signs of a Lord Monster's revival in the year 1908, Maga-Zetton's presence had caused abnormal sun rays, the tundra's ice begun to melt, causing monsters to awaken as well. After acquiring cards of Kingsaurus II, C.O.V., and Pris-Ma, Jugglus Juggler released Maga-Zetton as it wreaked havoc at the forest, Gai transformed into Orb to fight it. In the midst of the fight, Maga-Zetton unleashed a fireball then seemingly killed Natasha Romanová, unknowingly to Gai, Juggler rescued her from the explosion while healing her, causing Juggler to develop his signature red crescent moon scar. Orb/Gai in full anger, unleashed the full power of Orb Supreme Calibur which then killed Maga-Zetton as well as engulfing the forest of Rusalka as well. Having lost his original form, Gai obtained Ultraman's Ultra Fusion Card, restricting him to the use of Spacium Zeperion to fight future threats.

Trivia
  • This suit was made by modifying the original Zetton suit, simply by replacing LED parts, face and chest.
  • Maga-Zetton's roar is reused from the original Zetton, but with a slower tone sound.
  • Alongside Magatanothor, Maga-Zetton was never mentioned in the Pacific Records. This may be due to the fact that they never set foot in Japan.
  • Maga-Zetton's presence in Rusalka, based on Russia, as well as the explosion that followed Orb using his Supreme Calibur, is most likely a reference to the 1908 Tunguska event, a gigantic explosion that took place in a remote area of Siberia that flattened over two thousand square kilometers of forest, likely caused by a small asteroid or comet exploding in mid-air.
  • Zetton holds the record for the most appearances within a series, across the entire Ultraman Series. In Ultraman Orb and the Orb stage shows in the 2016 Ultraman Festival, Zetton has achieved a surprising 6 appearances directly or in a related form. The appearances include: Maga-Zetton, the Zetton Army, Zett, Hyper Zetton Deathscythe, Zeppandon, and Hyper Zetton Deathscythe (Reserver).

Hyper Zetton Deathscythe

HZ DEATHSCYTHE

Hyper Zetton Deathscythe hiding in a factory.

Another variation of Zetton, dubbed Hyper Zetton Deathscythe, appeared in episode 5 of the series where he was first seen shrunken and kept secret by Alien Zetton Maddock, who wanted to lure in Gai Kurenai, aka Ultraman Orb, and kill him so that he can gain a reputation throughout the universe.

When Maddock did lure in Gai by kidnapping Naomi, he, along with the monster attacked him with their weapons (the former's energy rifle and the latter's scythes and fireballs respectively). Hyper Zetton then grew to his true immense size and started to rampage after Naomi sprayed Maddock with a fire extinguisher. After he got Naomi to a safe place, Gai immediately transformed into Ultraman Orb in his Spacium Zeperion form to fight the monster. After Zetton caught his Sparion Light Ring and threw it away, Orb decided to transform into his Hurricane Slash form for the very first time.

Orb vs hyperzetton

Hyper Zetton Deathscythe vs Orb

His abilities evenly matched up to Hyper Zetton's teleportation and combat prowess, showing off techniques such as the Rotation Kick and the Spin Attack. Hyper Zetton tried to get the upper hand back by firing as many fireballs as he can, but Orb summoned his Orb Slugger Lance and fired his Orb Lancer Shoot at them, leading into a beam lock until the Ultra advanced towards the monster, shoved his lance at him, and destroyed him once and for all with his Big Bang Thrust, or so it seemed.

Comparison between the Released Ver (Above) and the Artwork Ver (Below).

  • In an early script for Deathscythe's first episode, an Alien Bat was set to control another Hyper Zetton (Gigant) and eventually it would transform into a regular Hyper Zetton (Imago). But, due to there being only one singular, currently unusable prop for Gigant, a new variant of Hyper Zetton was introduced instead and Alien Bat was cut entirely and replaced with Maddock.
    • Remnants of this idea are retained in Deathscythe's design as the newly added scythes greatly resemble the legs of Hyper Zetton (Gigant). Additionally, the scythe was meant to be the newly created Scythe, same as the Gigant version, but by the design mentioned below.
      • These scythes were intended to be more circular but became wavier due to an error in the molding process.

Zeppandon

Main article: Zeppandon

Zetton's Kaiju Card is one of the components used by Jugglus Juggler to transform into Zeppandon.

Hyper Zetton Deathscythe (Reserver)

Another one of this variant of Zetton, this time being known Hyper Zetton Deathscythe (Reserver) (ハイパーゼットンデスサイス(リザーバー), Haipā Zetton Desusaisu (Rizābā)) appeared in episode 21 of the series when it would suddenly appeared in the sky frightening people, but would then later teleport away, much to the citizens' confusion, for about a whole month, controlled by a young girl dubbed the "The Girl With the Blue Ribbon" who appeared and disappeared whenever Zetton did the same.

While the SSP and Gai were questioning an elderly couple, the Iwakis, Ittetsu Shibukawa informed them that the monster reappeared in the sky again and it the girl, who would later be named Maya, appeared and controlled the monster. When Gai interfered with the bracelet, Hyper Zetton Deathscythe began to fall towards the group, but teleported away before it can crush them.

Hyper Zetton vs OO

Orb Origin vs Hyper Zetton Deathscythe

Later, it was revealed that the Maddock presence and nature is actually controlling her, transforming her from a sweet innocent soul into an evil, mindless drone to that monster. After stating his plans for revenge in front of everyone, Maddock unleashed Hyper Zetton Deathscythe, but thanks to Maya's conscious interfering, Zetton struggled to fight, even when he was chasing Gai, who acted as bait to lure him away from the city.

When Zetton did get a chance to attack, Gai transformed into Ultraman Orb Origin from the start before Hyper Zetton Deathscythe can annihilate him with his fireball and while the insect Kaiju confused him with his teleporting ability, Orb countered that with his combat skills and counterattacks. Afterwards, the two giants took to the skies and had an equally match dogfight until Hyper Zetton Deathscythe finally downed him with one of his fireballs.

After Maya finally managed to resist Maddock's presence from controlling her and managed to destroy his bracelet, Orb reclaimed his sword, which he lost earlier, then used it to stop the Kaiju from attacking again with a slash and then used another one to send him flying. Afterwards, Orb transformed into his Thunder Breastar form and forced the monster into the ground from the air with a single punch. Then, after he sent him reeling with his Ultra Spin, Orb destroys Hyper Zetton Deathscythe for good with his Zettcium Beam.

Ultra Fight Orb

Hyper Zetton was revived by Reibatos, alongside Vict Lugiel, King Joe, Birdon, Gudon, and Twin Tail, to fight Ultraman Orb and Ultraman Zero on Planet Yomi.

He teamed up with Gudon and Twin Tail to take down Zero, but the Ultra proved to be greater challenge for him despite having all three of them outnumbered. Hyper Zetton's exceptional strength and speed didn't help him in all in this case because both Zero and Orb have dealt with Zetton like him before and matched him equally in battle. Because of this, Hyper Zetton ended getting destroyed by Orb Hurricane Slash's Big Bang Thrust and an energized slash from Luna-Miracle Zero's Ultra Zero Lance. Ultra Fight Orb

ゼットン

A device containing Zetton was given to Alien Bat Seiji Komori by Kirisaki, who sensed his plight of being oppressed as an alien in a largely human society. This planted an idea within Komori, who then wanted to revolt against humanity and create a new world where aliens like himself can run free. These ideals caused a rift in his relationship with his partner, Alien Pitt Hitomi Mizuno, who wanted to have a peaceful life.

Komori came in contact with other revolutionary fighters such as Alien Hook, who had summoned Bemular some time earlier. He comes across Homare Soya, who protected him from getting beat up by a gang. After Homare discovered his secret, Komori knocked him out and summoned Zetton. He had commanded it to destroy Hiroyuki Kudo, who had just come along to look for Homare, but he was saved by Ultraman Taiga's light.

As Homare fought Komori, Taiga battled Zetton and was initially overpowered by it. His attacks did little, until he changed to Tri-Strium and sliced Zetton in half with the Fuma Flame Slash. For the New World

During Zetton's rampage, Osamu Tasaki's mother was injured and had to be hospitalized. This incident caused him to become xenophobic and inspired him to join EGIS.

Trivia

  • A new Zetton suit was used in this series.[7]
  • There is a weird continuity error in Zetton's appearances in episode 17 and episode 21. While the former never had Zetton saying his name, Osamu's flashback to the event has him saying it. This is likely an editing error or the result of different people working on different episodes.
  • As said in an interview from the Ultraman Taiga Super Complete Works, originally instead of a normal Zetton, there was to be either Hyper Zetton or Pedanium Zetton. However, the director of episode 18 thought the original should get representation.

Zett (center) and his army of Zettons

Under the employment of Absolute Tartarus, The Kingdom's Alien Bat created the duplicated artificial Zetton army to assist Zett in his hunt against the Ultra Warriors. The battalion of Zettons is consist of Zetton Falx (ゼットン・ファルクス, Zetton Farukusu), EX Zetton, two Zettons, and two Hyper Zettons. They attack the Tri-Squad on Planet Maijii and begin to overwhelm the three of them until Ultraman Ribut and Andro Melos come to help. They managed to turn the tide of battle, and Zett was forced to retreat after facing Ultraman Taiga Photon-Earth.

Later on, Zett and the Zettons attacked Yullian and Ultraman 80 after they crash landed on Planet Ebil. The two of them fought off the enemies until Ultramen Mebius, Taiga and Z arrived to help them. Later on, Ultraman Zero, Ultraman Joneus, Ultraman Titas, Ultraman Fuma, Ultrawoman Grigio, Ultraman Ribut and Andro Melos also appeared, and they all fought the Zetton army together. Eventually, all the Zettons were defeated and Zett was severely injured by Taiga Tri-Strium and Z. He tried to regenerate the army once more, but was destroyed by the Rainbow Strium Burst. The Appearance

Trivia

  • Although the other Zetton suit is almost identical to Zetton II in appearance, it is said to be another normal Zetton.[8]
  • The Zetton Falx is made by using Zetton Alien Baltan from Ultraman Festival 2016 and the scythes from Hyper Zetton Deathscythe.[8] The magazine Uchusen Yearbook 2021 acknowledges that in-universe, Zetton Falx is noted to resemble as Alien Baltan and the Hyper Zetton Deathscythe.[9]
    • Given that the entirety of Artificial Zetton Army are duplicates of existing Zettons (including their leader), it is possible that a real Falx exists in-universe.
  • The name "Falx" on the above variant of Zetton is Latin for "sickle", and references the Falx, a weapon with a curved blade used by the Thracians, Dacians and Romans, who also employed the falx as a siege hook to pull stones away from walls when storming fortified areas.

Shin Zetton in space

Zetton in Shin Ultraman

This version of Zetton is a robot superweapon from the Planet of Light, summoned by Zōffy to eliminate humanity after the latter deems humans to be a threat if they were able to evolve into giants due to their proven compatibility with the Beta System that Mefilas brought to Earth. Zōffy released it from its capsule state and activated an autonomous program to allow it to rebuild itself and fire a one-terakelvin (one trillion degree) fireball at the Earth to destroy the planet and the solar system, in order to wipe out humanity. Despite being of the same kind, Lipiah, who had become one with Shinji Kaminaga, opposed Zōffy's decision.

With Zetton visible looming over the sky, many people called the SSSP to attempt to convince them to make Ultraman do something about it, showing that the people were falling into despair. Kaminaga went back to his teammates and told them the truth about Zetton, making them aware that not even the combined force of all the thermonuclear weapons on Earth could do anything to Zetton. Kaminaga then left the data of the Beta System, translated into English, on a USB device and left it to Taki before he transformed into Ultraman and fought Zetton in space, knowing that he would most likely lose anyway. Ultraman was shot down by Zetton and as he fell into the sea, Zōffy told him to stand down and simply await destruction. Kaminaga was then put out of action while he was hospitalized unconscious.

Akihisa Taki managed to gather the greatest minds in the world to come up with a solution to defeating Zetton using the Beta System's data that Kaminaga left behind. Kaminaga woke up just in time after humanity had managed to come up with a plan, which involved using the Beta Capsule twice to open a sixth-dimensional hole where Ultraman can throw Zetton into, but the whole thing had to be executed within just one millisecond. Kaminaga transformed into Ultraman and did as he was told, ramming into Zetton's fireball. Unfortunately, Ultraman was caught in the blast and fell into a wormhole along with the destroyed Zetton. Zetton

Stats
  • Height: 60 m
  • Weight: 30,000 t
  • Origin: Space
  • Attack: 1300 (Galaxy), 1500 (NEO)
  • Defense: 1000 (Galaxy), 1200 (NEO)
  • Speed: 900 (Galaxy), 800 (NEO)
  • Weakness: In Ultraman Mebius, it is mentioned by George that Zetton's feet could be its weak spot (like Red King), while Marina says that his horns could be its weak spot (similar to Eleking). However, its true weak spot is yet to be revealed.
Powers and Weapons
  • Zetton Final Beam (ゼットンファイナルビーム, Zetton Fainaru Bīmu): One of Zetton's strongest attacks, as well as one of his signature techniques, Zetton can absorb an energy beam shot by the opponent with his hands, making it seem as if the beam was useless. After this is carried out Zetton can launch a very powerful, destructive, explosive wave-like beam of yellowish white energy fired from both his hands. If aimed correctly, this beam attack can defeat Ultras with a single shot if the beam strikes their Color Timer. It is also a tag-team finisher in ULTRA MONSTERS made with Imit-Ultraman (Alien Zarab), where the fake silver giant fired his Fake Spacium Beam for Zetton to absorb, then Zetton uses this energy to power the Final Beam and shoot the opponent with it.
    • Zetton Breaker (ゼットンブレイカー, Zetton Bureikā): The same beam can be fired without the need to absorb a ray, but the power is weaker.
  • One Trillion Degrees Fireball (一兆度の火球, Icchōdo no Kakyū)/Meteor Fireball (メテオ火球, Meteo Kakyū)/Zetton Fireball (ゼットン火球, Zetton Kakyū): Zetton's primary attack, he can emit and launch a variety of yellow colored fire balls from his "mouth", or the orange-yellow stripe spot on his face/forehead. These fireballs range in power with explosive results, vary from being small and weak, which can be fired in rapid succession, to being bigger and more powerful (about the size of his face), creating entire explosions that are larger than himself and are capable of overwhelming the strongest of foes and energy shields. This is able to be charged before his face to create a massive fireball. These fireballs are said to be one trillion degrees Celcius.[11]
  • Zetton Barrier (ゼットンバリア, Zetton Baria): When attacked, Zetton can create and erect a large, powerful crystal-like electromagnetic barrier[11] around its entire body that is capable of protecting him from all but the strongest of attacks. Should Zetton close the force field while being attacked, projectiles will be bounced directly back at the source. However, the barrier has an opening at the top, and does not shield him from attacks thrown from above his head. The shield color is varied: the one that fought Ultraman had its barrier in yellow while Heisei versions tend to display it blue. In episode 35 of New Ultraman Retsuden, a smaller varient of this barrier that only covers half the body is seen.
  • Zetton Star-Shells (ゼットン光弾, Zetton Kōdan):[11] Zetton can fire energy bullets from the holes (eyes) on the sides of its face.
  • Teleportation: Zetton is capable of instantly teleporting itself.
  • Energy Laser: Zetton can fire red-colored energy lasers from the holes on both sides of his head.
  • Flight: Zetton is capable of anti-gravity flight.
Mega Monster Battle
  • Super Strength: Zetton has a great deal of strength, even more so than Red King. Capable of taking on the combined might and forces of Gomora, Litra, and Eleking at once. This great strength he has also allows him to rival the strength of powerful monsters such as King Joe Black and even the Ultramen.
  • Enhanced Agility: Kate's Zetton demonstrates the ability to be extremely agile, able to do backflips despite its massive body proportions and even performing a flying kick of its own.
ULTRA MONSTERS
  • Teleport Attack (テレポートアタック, Terepōto Atakku): Zetton disoriented his opponents with multiple teleportations before striking them.
Ultraman Taiga
  • Enhanced Reflexes: Without flinching, Zetton can quickly catch an incoming projectile (in this case, Ultraman Taiga's Taiga Light Ring) between its hands and toss it aside with little to no issue.

  • One Trillion Degrees Fireball (一兆度の火球, Icchōdo no Kakyū): Zetton II can fire missile-strength fireballs of energy from the yellow portion of his head.
  • Electrocuting Touch: When in contact with an opponent, Zetton II is able to surge electrical current going through an opponent, electrocuting those around him.
  • Magnetic Properties: Zetton II can magnetize himself.
  • Teleport: Zetton II can teleport at will.
  • Laser Arrows: Zetton II can fire lasers from his "face", which are extremely accurate.
  • Energy Redirect: Zetton II can redirect energy from attacks like the Ultra Chop, leaving him unharmed but letting him rechannel it into a physical shock.
  • Speed: Zetton II is considerably more mobile and faster than his predecessor. He can run short distances, unlike Zetton I who could only walk with big, clumsy steps.
  • Super Strength: Zetton II retained the strength of his predecessor and was one of the hardest monsters Ultraman Jack ever had to face.

Zetton Max ver

Zetton

As stated by Tsuburaya Productions and the Blu-ray releases of Ultraman X, the Max incarnation of Zetton, while nearly identical in appearance, is considerably different from the original Zetton. The primary differences between it and previous versions of Zetton are its bigger size and weight and its capability of shielding (the Showa Era called Zetton Barrier while Max called it Zetton Shutter). Strangely enough in Ultraman X, while Quila had used a similar Zetton to fight X, this version had the same statistics as the original version despite retaining the differences of its attacks.

Stats
  • Height: 66 m (Max), 60 m (X)
  • Weight: 53,000 t (Max), 30,000 t (X)
  • Origin: Space (Max Universe)
Powers and Weapons
  • Zetton Breaker (ゼットンブレイカー, Zetton Bureikā): Zetton can fire a stream of missile-strength, yellowish energy waves from his hands. These waves are very powerful, able to bring down opponents in a single shot due to its fatigue-inducing powers.
  • One Trillion Degree Fireball (一兆度の火球, Icchō-do no kakyū): Also called as Meteor Fireball (メテオ火球, Meteo Kakyū). Zetton can emit and launch a variety of yellow fire balls from his mouth, or the orange-yellow stripe spot on his face/forehead. These fireballs range in power with explosive results, vary from being small and weak, which can be fired in rapid succession, to being bigger and more powerful (about the size of his face), creating entire explosions that are larger than himself and are capable of overwhelming the strongest of foes and energy shields.
  • Zetton Shutter (ゼットンシャッター, Zetton Shattā): When attacked, Zetton can create and erect a large, powerful, protective, crystal-like energy force field shield around his entire body that is capable of protecting him from all but the strongest of attacks. Should Zetton close the force field while being attacked, projectiles will be bounced directly back at the source. Compared to the Showa version of Zetton, the Max incarnation is capable of covering the upper appendage, making him completely protected. This is true to its namesake, "Shutter". In Ultraman X this is yellow.
  • Teleportation: In order to confuse opponents, Zetton is capable of instantly teleporting himself short distances.
  • Super Strength: Zetton has great strength, capable of taking on Ultraman X's Cyber Armors by itself, both Eleking and Gomora Armor on-screen. He is also able to easily shove off Ultraman Max and go toe to toe with Xenon.

Cyber Zetton
Ultraman X Cyber Zetton Card

Created by Xio, Cyber Zetton was made as one of their strongest Cyber Kaiju but was briefly infected with Alien Sran Quila's malware until Daichi's quick thinking of Cyber Eleking expelled the virus. Zetton Armor

Zetton Armor (ゼットンアーマー, Zetton Āmā) is an armament utilized by Ultraman X after scanning Cyber Zetton's card. X gains Cyber Zetton's arms and chest. It was originally meant to use against the real Zetton but Alien Sran Quila activated a hidden malware that enslaved X as part of the plan to enact his revenge on Ultraman Max until Daichi purified the card with Cyber Eleking.

This form debuted at Ultraman Festival 2015 along with Skedon and Denpagon armors but makes a proper appearance in episode 8 of the series.

Weapons
  • Gauntlet Cannon: X gains a pair of huge gloves which capable of acting as cannons.
    • Zetton Light Flare (ゼットン光弾, Zetton Kōdan): X can unleash the Zetton Breaker beam.
    • Zetton Shutter (ゼットンシャッター, Zetton Shattā): X can create a barrier which capable of holding off attacks.
      • Zetton Tornado (ゼットントルネード, Zetton Torunēdo): Using the Zetton Shutter, X forms a huge crystal shard as he flies and spins before ramming the opponent.
Techniques
  • Teleportation: X can temporarily digitize himself and reappears at a different spot.

Clone Zetton White (Larva) (クローンゼットン・ホワイト(幼体), Kurōn Zetton Howaito (Yōtai)) is the first/child stage of Clone Zetton. Its white skin indicates the monster's lack of an exoskeleton, thus being vulnerable to attacks, but this weakness can be compensated through its high energy beam power and its resilience despite the attacks received.

In Ultraman Festival 2016 Live Stage Part 2, Ultraman battled one at the Land of Light. When Ultraman needed to rush to Earth, Ultraman Scott took over and destroyed it with his Granium Beam. A second one later appeared and mortally wounded Ultraman Mebius, who pushed Ultraman X out of harm's way. After doing so, it seemingly evolved into its next stage, though this wasn't acknowledged in the story.

Hyper Zetton (Imago) (ハイパーゼットン(イマーゴ), Haipā Zetton Imāgo)[8][13] is the adult form of Hyper Zetton, modified and much more powerful version of the original Zetton created by Alien Bat as his weapon to bring death to the universe.

  • Hyper Zetton Absorb (ハイパーゼットンアブゾーブ, Haipā Zetton Abuzōbu): When an opponent fires a beam or some other form of energy attack upon Hyper Zetton, it can extend its arms and absorb beam attacks by generating a portal-like hole vortex in front of himself that will quickly absorb the projectiles. The energy is absorbed when the vortex is collapsed and then fired back at his attacker with his "hands". This is not strong enough to absorb extremely powerful attacks such as the Cosmo Miracle Ray.
  • Hyper Zetton Teleport (ハイパーゼットンテレポート, Haipā Zetton Terepōto): In order to disorient opponents and land several blows consecutively, Hyper Zetton (Imago) is capable of teleporting short and long distances. It appears as his body taking on a wavy form. While performing this, he can temporarily create a shadow clone of himself to attack his foes.

  • Flight: Hyper Zetton (Imago) can fly through the air with ease both with or without the help of his retractable wings on his back. When the wings are unfolded, Hyper Zetton is capable of flight at Mach 33.

Zetton in Redman

Zetton II appeared in the series, Redman.

Zetton II made his first appearance on the show in episode 129 where he fought Redman alone. He jumped up to avoid getting killed by the alien hero's Red Knife and snuck up from behind him for a much needed edge. Whenever Redman tried to grapple him, Zetton would just throw him back down. Even though the odds were against him, Redman never gave up and eventually started to win against the strong monster, even when his Red Arrow was knocked away from him. He eventually defeated Zetton by hoisting him over his head and sent him plummeting over the hill with his Red Fall.

In episode 132, Zetton II teamed up with Dorako to take on Redman. Together, both monsters managed to even up to Redman while the latter learned from his experiences and used his regular moveset. After a long, evenly matched fight with chops, punches, throws, grapples, kicks, and even sneak attacks, Redman defeated Zetton II by bringing him to the ground and then stabbing him in the face with his Red Knife after he defeated Dorako.

Zetton II made his final appearance on the show in episode 134 where he teamed up with not only Dorako once more, but also with Kodaigon and Sadola to take on Redman. All four monsters confused the alien hero by jumping up and teleporting with each other and then teleported back into a horizontal line. Even though they held the upper hand against the alien hero for the majority of the fight, Redman persevered. In the end, after a long fight, he defeated all four monsters by throwing his Red Arrow at them from the top of a hill and they fell down due to the resulting explosion.

Trivia

  • The Zetton II suit from Return of Ultraman was reused for Zetton's battles in the series. Unlike his appearance in Return of Ultraman however, the Zetton II suit does not possess any lightbulbs inside any part of his body.

Zetton and the group is constantly facing competition from a rival highschool for a debate on who is the only monster that can kill Ultraman whom try to outbest the group. Towards the final episodes of the segments, the group presents Zetton with a girlfriend, who is smitten by his heroics, but is kidnapped by Red King after the rivals hire him to protect them from Zetton. After a short battle, Zetton wins and scares off the rival gang for the final time.

Bandai Zetton figures

Zetton has had many action figures released, including the Ultra Monster Series, HDM Ultra Series and the Ultra Egg Series. Zetton was released multiple times from Bandai, being featured in almost every line. Zetton's mold has rarely changed, and features a figure about 6.5 inches tall, with articulation in the arms and head. Powered Zetton was only released in the 1998 version and was one of the tallest figures at the time, with articulation in the arms, head and antennae and to note that Zetton's right antennae faces to the right and his left faces foward unlike in the series. EX Zetton was released as an EX in the 2009 line as well as a limited festival version with metallic highlights. It is slightly taller than the original Zetton with articulation only in the arms.

Hyper Zetton was released as an EX in early 2012 as well as an EX without the wings released in June. Both figures have the same hight and the same articulation (arms, torso) with the winged version having wing articulation. Finally, Giganto Zetton was released as a box set with a miniature Hyper Zetton that can be stuffed into a cut on its back for the "cocoon opening" effect. It is only 6 inches tall and features articulation in the front arms and head.

In 2013, the Kaiju was released as one of the Ultra Monster 500 series. He has 2 points of articulation, is 5in tall and #3 in the series. A variant of this figure, made in translucent purple and featuring red paint, was released as an internet exclusive Maga Zetton.
