Trivia[]
- The initial script for this episode was written by Hideki Oka. However, prior to this, Masaki Harada requested plot changes, resulting in a script titled "Enemy Within the Heart," in which Waroga is portrayed as a manipulator of human life, similar to episodes 13 and 14.[1]
- Kawaya and Shinobu become engaged, but Miyako, a woman that Kawaya had previously been unable to cure, suddenly returns and reveals Waroga's plan: he intends to use children with the same rare disease, whose weak immune systems make them ideal hosts, for his resurrection. Feared by the public and the JADF, the children are sheltered by EYES at the sanatorium.
- It is soon revealed that Miyako is Waroga's host. When Shinobu learns the truth, she shoots her. Waroga appears, but is defeated by Cosmos. Ultimately, Kawaya leaves Japan to develop a vaccine to save the children, while Shinobu silently watches him depart, still wearing her engagement ring.
- However, producer Hiroyasu Shibuya later felt the story was too heavy for the audience, so Masakazu Migita rewrote it at the last minute. Some elements of the original plot were later used in episode 47.
