The Vampire is a mysterious woman that appeared in episode 6 of Operation: Mystery.
History[]
Operation: Mystery[]
Shusaku Yamamoto, a wealthy and idle young man, was in a relationship with a blonde girl named Nina Asakura
. However, during a car ride, due to speeding, they suddenly swerved into the path of an oncoming truck, leading to a severe accident. Nina tragically lost her life in the crash. As Shusaku tearfully clutched Nina's hand in the morgue, Mr. Asakura, Nina's adoptive father, arrived and angrily scolded Shusaku. Mr. Asakura recalled how, years ago, when he worked at the Polish embassy, Nina was just an infant, abandoned in the snow in front of the embassy gates, on the brink of death. He and his wife adopted Nina, raising her as their own with great care. However, from that very night, amidst the rumbling thunder, Nina suddenly came back to life. Her face turned pale, her teeth became sharp, and she muttered, "Blood... blood..."
The resurrected Nina attacked her first victim, draining him of his blood. After feeding, her face returned to its original beautiful appearance. She was subsequently confirmed to have come back to life by a doctor and returned to the Asakura household. Forty-eight hours later, she attacked again under the cover of night, with her victims including her adoptive father.
Afterward, Nina secretly met up with Shusaku, but Nina's face once again turned pale and began to crack. Desperate for blood, she pleaded with Shusaku not to abandon her, no matter what happened. They then fled to Beppu. Due to a series of mysterious deaths caused by severe blood loss, the case was handed over to the SRI for investigation. When the SRI director, Tadashi Matoya and Shiro Maki, arrived at the scene, Inspector Machida questioned Nina's adoptive mother, who accused Zhou Zuo of being the mastermind and claimed he had kidnapped her daughter.
When the SRI tracked to Beppu, they discovered had committed two more murders in the local Hell Valley. The cause of death for these victims was the same as in the Tokyo cases: nearly all the blood in their bodies had been drained. The investigation was transferred directly from Tokyo to Beppu in Oita Prefecture. Due to the challenges in the investigation, the Oita Prefectural Police requested the SRI's assistance, and Nomura began a search using a strand of blonde hair left at the scene as a clue, eventually locating the hotel where they were staying.
However, during the surveillance, Nomura was attacked from behind by Shusaku and knocked unconscious, nearly becoming Nina's prey. Fortunately, he was rescued by Maki. Nomura got a clear look at Nina's true form, and realizing the danger, Shūsaku and Nina fled. Nomura exclaimed, "Mr. Maki! I saw it! ...It was a vampire! It looked exactly like Dracula..." He believed that Nina might be a descendant of vampires, and that the dormant vampire blood within her was reawakened and manifested due to the impact of the car accident.
Considering the connection between the killer and the disappearance of blood, and the fact that the murders occurred every 48 hours, Nomura once again monitored Nina's room. Ignoring a warning from a hotel staff member not to enter someone else's room, he went inside, only to find that Nina and Zhou Zuo had already escaped via the elevator. In the elevator, Nina struggled violently, and as soon as the doors opened, she lunged at two waiting guests, causing them to faint from fright. Maki later learned from the unconscious guests that they had seen a blonde-haired monster.
Maki returned to Nina's room and found a note left by Shusaku: "I have always loved Nina deeply. To prove my unwavering love, I continuously provided her ravenous body with fresh blood. But if Nina continues to live, more victims will suffer. I am leaving this hotel to atone for my sins. Please do not pursue us any further. We will embark on a quiet journey meant only for the two of us..."
Director Matoya arrived in Oita with Nina's adoptive mother. Maki explained the situation to Matoya and informed the adoptive mother that it was not Zhou Zuo who killed her husband, but Nina. Meanwhile, the Oita Prefectural Police detectives learned that Nina and Shusaku had taken a fisherman's boat to the uninhabited island of Takashima that morning. After learning what had happened, the foster mother requested that SRI take her to the island.
When the SRI and police arrived, they found Shusaku allowing Nina to bite his arm, feeding her his blood. Despite Maki's loud pleas for Shusaku to leave her, the adoptive mother seized an officer's handgun and aimed it at Shusaku. As the others tried to stop her, Shusaku, with Nina in his arms, jumped off the cliff together. In the end, the two lay silently on the beach.
However, was Nina truly a descendant of Dracula? The case came to a close under an eerie atmosphere.
