Umezawa is a character that appeared in Ultraman Gaia. He is a director of KCB.

Personality

Like Tabata, Umezawa also adheres to the principle of never giving up halfway, and tries to report on events through more unconventional means. Therefore, when dealing with employees, he also interacts with them in a strict manner.

However, when encountering strange events, he would immediately report the news and later assist younger colleagues in evacuating.

History

Ultraman Gaia

Due to Tabetaru's busy schedule with other work, Umezawa was commissioned by Tabetaru to serve as the acting director of the "Tabetaru team". Under the guise of recording a special program on Tokyo's water sources, Umezawa, Reiko, and Rimbun went to the Tokyo O-numa reservoir to investigate the appearance of Anemos in the area.

However, when they trespassed into the mountains, they encountered Anemos. Although he tried to report Anemos' existence as a "headline" immediately, they had to evacuate in a hurry due to Anemos' attack. Later, they witnessed Anemos emitting a warning message substance on the riverbank. Umezawa was affected by the gas secreted by the creature after it merged with Crabgan, becoming its prey. However, with the intervention of Ultraman Gaia, he, along with Reiko, Inoue, and other GUARD soldiers, were eventually rescued.

Afterward, when Umezawa woke up from a coma, he was baffled by what he had experienced and reported live again as soon as possible.^{The 4,600 Million Year-Old Ghosts}

• Initially, the series did not include the character Umezawa. However, due to the actor Hiroshi Tsuburaya, who played Tabata, being unavailable for the filming of this episode, it was decided to introduce Umezawa as a replacement.
