Ultraman Decker (ウルトラマンデッカー, Urutoraman Dekkā) is the titular Ultra Hero of the series Ultraman Decker. He came to the Earth as a mysterious light during the attack of the Spheres, and bonded with Kanata Asumi of the newly reformed GUTS-Select.[1][2]

History[]

Ultraman Decker[]

The Light From the Future[]

After several centuries, humanity started to expand out into space, encountering many other alien races in the process. Their progress was halted by the appearance of the Spheres, who the humans fought back against with the help of their allies, including the incarnation of Yuzare at the time, and another Ultraman. At some point, Decker Asumi gained the power of light, and was able to transform into Ultraman Decker using the Ultra D Flasher, but they were still unable to fully repel the Spheres.

The Spheres eventually reached Planet Bazdo and imprisoned it in a Sphere Barrier. While its people were still fighting back, Decker's former ally, Agams, became resentful towards humanity, blaming them and their space expansion for bringing the Spheres to their planet. This led him to create a space-time distortion system to go back to the past, bringing the Spheres with him to invade the Earth of the past to prevent the future destruction of his home world. Decker attempted to follow him back to the past but Agams destroyed the system before anyone else could use it. Desperate to stop Agams' plan, Decker sent the Ultra D Flasher back to the past, hoping that the light would exist there as well.

Appearance of Decker and the Spheres[]

Ultraman Decker's light appears to Kanata inside the Sphere

Ultraman Decker appeared when Kanata Asumi was consumed by a Sphere Soldier. His light was given to Kanata, granting him the Ultra D Flasher and the Ultra Dimension Card, telepathically instructing him to transform, bursting out of the Sphere. Decker and Kanata fought against Spheresaurus and defeated the monster before flying up into space to fight the other Spheres, but was knocked back down to Earth again, running out of energy while failing to prevent the Spheres from encasing the Earth in their Sphere Barrier. Kanata was relatively unharmed when he landed, but the Ultra D Flasher disappeared afterwards. Day of the Attack

After a year of training in the TPU, Decker's light reappeared to Kanata when Deathdrago appeared, signaling the return of the monster crisis and the next attack of the Spheres soon after. Kanata's Resolve Move Out, GUTS-Select! Decker and GUTS-Select managed to defend the Earth for a period of time, fighting against several monsters on the Earth, and the Sphere Synthetic Monsters that were assimilated by the Spheres. Return of the Light and Darkness[]

Trigger and Decker fighting against Sphere-Megalothor

One day, a strange presence was detected underneath Furube City. GUTS-Select was dispatched to investigate before they were attacked by numerous tentacles, forcing Kanata to transform into Decker. He had a difficult time fending them off until Ultraman Trigger arrived from Mars, and the two of them managed to drive the tentacles away back into the underground. Kengo Manaka then introduced himself to Kanata and GUTS-Select, updating them on the situation on Mars.

Soon after, Sphere-Megalothor revealed itself, appearing in a tornado of darkness like it did the last time. Trigger and Decker fought against her, with the former brandishing the Ultra Dual Sword for the first time. However, after managing to wound Sphere-Megalothor, Kengo was able to see Carmeara inside it. Hesitating to strike them down, Megalothor took the opportunity to escape. The Light of Hope from the Red Planet In the aftermath of the battle, Kanata questioned Kengo on why he refused to attack, to which Kengo replied that he wanted to fight so that others, including Carmeara, could smile. This made Kanata realize that he did not really have a goal in mind for being Ultraman, and fought just because he had the power to do so.

Later on, Gijeran emerged and put many people under the influence of its hallucinogenic pollen, affecting Kanata as well. While hallucinating, he had a dream where his fellow GUTS-Select members went to his rice cracker shop to order large quantities of product, but woke himself up after realizing that something was wrong and this is not what he should be doing at the moment. Gijeran grew to giant size by the night, and was destroyed by GUTS-Select using a specialized herbicide provided to them by Yuna Shizuma from her father's research on Gijeran. GUTS-Select was about to get rid of the remains by blasting it away with the Neo Maxima Nurse Cannon, but Megalothor emerged again, which prompted Kengo and Kanata to transform. Seeing Kengo's resolve to rescue Carmeara from within Megalothor, Kanata decided to help him and find his own reason for fighting as well. With additional help from Yuzare, the three of them manage to pull Carmeara out of Megalothor. The three giants then fought against Megalothor together and destroyed the monster.

After the battle was over, Kengo decided to hand the Ultra Dual Sword and the Ultra Dimension Cards to Kanata, entrusting them to him to use them to defend the Earth as Yuzare wanted. He bid farewell to Kanata and then Yuna, before he left the Earth with Carmeara. Light and Darkness, Again

Secrets Revealed[]

Agams, under the guise of Yuichiro Asakage, worked for the TPU in weapons development and had eventually created the Terraphaser, a powerful robot that successfully fended off monsters alongside Decker. When Agams learned of Kanata's identity as Decker, he decided to drop his disguise and go after him to eliminate the light of Decker, which was his true objective for building Terraphaser. Hijacking the robot from HANE2 during Spheresaurus' second attack, Agams showed his true colors and defeated Kanata. At the same time, Decker Asumi from the future had been sent to the present using a partially restored space-time distortion system, taking back the Ultra D Flasher once more to battle Agams, and the two of them blasted each other away. Birth of a Dark God

Kanata and Decker had a talk in the forest where the former revealed the circumstances of Ultraman Decker, Agams and the Spheres, before Agams appeared and interrupted them. Decker attempted to transform, but the instability in his time travel had left him weakened, leaving the two of them with no choice but to run and escape from Agams and his Terraphaser. Troubled by both Agams and Decker's willingness to throw down their lives for their respective causes, Kanata took back the Ultra D Flasher and transformed into Ultraman Decker once more with the resolve to protect the Earth. He was still no match for Terraphaser, but Kanata's determination to never give up, and the additional support from Decker created a new light that became Ultraman Decker Dynamic Type, and using the Decker Shield Calibur, Kanata was able to win against Agams.

Before Decker went back to the future where his friends were, he told Kanata his full name and revealed to him that he was his descendant. Decker made once last request for Kanata to save Agams as he left back to the future.A Promise for Tomorrow

Kanata's Mission[]

The recent revelations had begun to distract Kanata, who had also reported his findings to GUTS-Select. Mulling over the recent events had made Kanata lose focus on his missions until his teammates reminded him that they were a team and could count on each other. Stay As You Are Kanata confronted Agams again when Yapool invaded with his Aribunta, being dragged into Agams' pocket dimension where Kanata expressed his desire to save Agams, only to get refuted. Kanata then attempted to protect Agams from Aribunta's explosion after fighting against it and Terraphaser, but found out that it was a trick by Yapool, who took on Agams' form and used that opportunity to send Ultraman Decker into space. Invitation from Another Dimension Kanata was about to get assimilated by the Spheres but was rescued by the arrival of Ultraman Trigger. Kengo and Kanata then went to an abandoned TPU base on the Moon that had been taken over by Spheres, where Kengo gave Kanata a video player containing a message from his parents on Mars, who told him to do what he felt was right whenever he felt lost, restoring Kanata's resolve. After defeating a Sphere-possessed Galactron MK2, Kengo gave Kanata the Sphere Mons Dimension Card so that he could return to the Earth. Warriors on the Moon

Kanata continued his battles against Agams and other threats to the Earth, receiving assistance from Ultraman Dyna who came from the future via one of Sphere-Geomos' space-time portals, during which he learned that humans were the ones who brought the Spheres to Planet Bazdo in the first place, and that Agams was not above using the Spheres themselves as a source of power, as their energy was detected within the Terraphaser he piloted. The Price of Prosperity When Agams' options were starting to run out, he became desperate enough to fuse the Spheres into Terraphaser so that he could finish off Decker once and for all. Kanata fought him in a fierce battle despite his determination to save him from himself, with his attempts to reason with Agams failing. They blew each other away and Agams was left without his memories after the battle, having been consumed by the Spheres. Falling to the ground, Kanata's identity as Ultraman Decker was discovered by Soma Ryumon who saw him revert to human form. The Fall of Bazdo

Agams was brought into custody by GUTS-Select but refused to speak to them when interrogated, until Kanata decided to talk to him which got Agams to open up about his situation. When the Spheres attacked again, Agams managed to escape in the chaos after regaining his memories from seeing the Spheres, and Kanata followed him out, still trying to convince him to stop his revenge, but it was another futile attempt as Agams instead got the Spheres to form Sphere Obelisks to hastedn the shrinking of the Sphere Barrier. After fighting Sphere-Gomora, Sphere-Red King and Sphere-Neomegas, recreated by the Spheres, Kanata was blasted away by Terraphaser, with Agams now having lost most of his memories, driven by a single-minded desire for revenge. The Sky of Despair

The Mother's Descent[]

Severely hurt after fighting Agams, Kanata was brought back to the Nursedessei by Ryumon before discovering that he had been infected by the Spheres, but decided to keep it a secret. He and the other members of GUTS-Select, along with several TPU troops, were deployed to destroy the Sphere Obelisks, tasked with planting bombs at the base of one of the smaller ones to bring it down so that the Nursedessei can destroy the main receiver using the Nurse Cannon. The operation was a success despite Kanata's infection getting to him, but the Obelisk repaired itself and Agams was firing at them. With no choice but to fight, Kanata transformed into Ultraman Decker, and reminded Agams throughout the battle that this was not what Laelia would have wanted, snapping Agams back to reality when he started to remember her, dropping his desire for revenge and helping Decker destroy the Sphere Obelisk, dissipating the Sphere Barrier that was covering the Earth.

Immediately afterwards, the Mother Spheresaurus descended, having defeated Ultraman Trigger who crash landed on the Earth. The monster defeated both Ultras and severely damaged the Terraphaser, killing Agams inside it before proceeding to drain the energy of the Eternity Core from beyond space-time, managing to recreate the Sphere Barrier once again while causing Kanata's Sphere infection to worsen and hurt him while the Ultra D Flasher shattered into pieces. End of a Dream

Decker and GUTS-Select face off against the Mother Spheresaurus

After regrouping within the downed Nursedessei, GUTS-Select and Kengo had to come up with a plan - Operation T/D/G[3] - to defeat Mother Spheresaurus, finding out about its weak point, the core on its chest, from data left behind in the Phase Riser. Challenging Mother Spheresaurus again, Kengo transformed into Glitter Trigger Eternity to forcefully drain the Eternity Core energy that Mother Spheresaurus had absorbed, transferring that power to Kanata so that he could transform into Ultraman Decker, who then fought the Mother Spheresaurus with the remaining arsenal of GUTS-Select.

Mother Spheresaurus then unleashed a horde of Spheres to absorb everything within the vicinity, stating its intentions to become one with all life to remove all sadness and conflict, but Kanata and the others rejected its will, stating that they will take their own futures for themselves. Using all of his energy, Decker fired his Selgend Beam through Mother Spheresaurus' core, destroying the monster once and for all.

With the Mother Sphere defeated, the remaining Spheres and the Sphere Barrier finally disappeared as well, reconnecting communications between Earth and space as the people from Mars started to return. Kanata saw the spirits of both Agams and Laelia one last time, before they passed on to the afterlife. Now that Ultraman Decker had fulfilled his purpose, the Ultra D Flasher and Ultra Dimension Cards disappeared into light, leaving Kanata a normal human again. He had a conversation with Kengo about what he fights for, but still could not come up with a definitive answer but nevertheless, he will keep living as he is. They and the other members of GUTS-Select watch the ships from Mars return to Earth. The Light Far Beyond

Ultraman Decker Finale: Journey to Beyond[]

After Kanata died within the Terraphaser, taking a blow from Gigalogaiser meant for Ultraman Dinas, the power of Ultraman Decker returned to Kanata Asumi when Dinas and Kanata's fellow teammates' strong desire for him to live caused the Ultrmaan Dinas Ultra Dimension Card to combine with the other Dimension Cards that the others had, reforming the Ultraman Decker Ultra Dimension card, whose light somehow brought Kanata to life. He then transformed into Ultraman Decker to fight Zor-Gigalogaiser, forcing Gibellus to retreat after the Zorgaus was successfully destroyed by the Nursedessei and GUTS Gryphon. Still baffled at Kanata's strength and determination, Gibellus tried to attack Decker once again but was overwhelmed by his Selgend Beam, destroying him and ending his threat forever.
