Ultraman Card Game (ウルトラマンカードゲーム, Urutoraman Kādo Gēmu) is an upcoming trading card game that combines the worldview of the Ultraman Series with the playability and collectability of trading cards that can be enjoyed by all ages.[1][2]

It will be released in the English, Japanese, and Chinese (Simplified & Traditional) formats in 15 regions around the world.[3]

History

The card game was first announced through Tsuburaya Productions' official news channels. In addition to the slated release date of Summer 2024, it was announced that the card game would make its world debut at the Anime Festival Asia (AFA) 2023 in Singapore, where a promotional card would be given out to those participating. The Ultraman Card Game official website was also launched in both English and Japanese.

From November 24 to 26, AFA 2023 attendees could play test the game and meet the Ultra Heroes at the Ultraman Card Game booth. The Ultraman Card Game The Live stage show featuring Ultraman Zero and Alien Mefilas was also held at the venue. To celebrate the world debut of the card game, a global giveaway campaign offering a Gomora promotional card was also held on social media platforms.[4] It was also announced that roadshows showcasing the card game would be run in international markets in 2024, and that local and world tournaments were being planned.[5]

In June 2024, playtests for Ultraman Card Game were held across Asia and the United States, with limited promotional cards and test decks given out to participating players at certain locations. Notably, the card design and game mechanics were revised from the AFA 2023 playtests.

On July 10, Ultraman Day, the official Twitter/X and Instagram accounts were opened, and more details on Ultraman Card Game were revealed, including information on regional availability, products, and release dates.[3][6] Additionally, a special introductory video was uploaded to the ULTRAMAN Official YouTube channel, hosted by Yuki Uchida and featuring Tatsuomi Hamada.[7]
