Ultraman Wiki

Ultra Idemitsujin (ウルトラ出光人, Urutora Idemitsujin) is a character group designed by Tsuburaya Productions for Idemitsu Kosan, inspired by the Ultraman Series. These characters first appeared in January 2007 in television commercials for Idemitsu Kosan and were featured in an online comic series on the official website. This web comic consisted of six episodes (including a prologue) and ran from January 13 to March 10, 2007.

Production[]

This series marked Tsuburaya Productions and Idemitsu Kosan’s second collaboration following Ultraman Zearth, rekindling their partnership after a decade. The group consists of three main characters: Ultraman Hotto, who conveys comfort; Ultraman Motto, who brings energy; and Ultraman Kitto, who offers fulfillment. Much like Zearth, these Ultras hail from the Land of Light in the Z95 Nebula. The characters' names reflect Idemitsu’s advertising slogan: "Hotto for comfort, Motto for energy, and Kitto for satisfaction."

In the standard storyline, when humanity on Earth is endangered by malicious aliens, the Idemitsujin are moved to tears by compassion or anger, triggering their transformation into Ultra Idemitsujin. Through diligent research and effort, they strive to bring peace and progress to humanity. They are usually depicted wearing outer garments, though collectible figures reveal that they also wear classic Ultra gear beneath these outfits.

Synopsis[]

In recent years, Earth has faced a range of serious issues: energy crises, environmental concerns, and food shortages. Meanwhile, people are caught in a dizzying race of technological development, often losing sight of what really matters. Are we truly considering the planet’s well-being? Is this rapid technological advancement genuinely beneficial to our daily lives?

To address these challenges for the sake of the Earth and its people, a group emerged—the Idemitsujin. Day in and day out, they dedicate themselves to these various fields, persevering despite setbacks and moments of doubt. Observing their efforts from afar was a distant star, a world in the Z95 Nebula known as the Land of Pikari, the same star that gave rise to Ultraman Zearth.

Moved by the desire to support and empower the Idemitsujin in their mission, three Ultra warriors were chosen to take on this responsibility. They are the Ultraman Hotto, the messenger of relief; Ultraman Motto, the messenger of vitality; and Ultraman Kitto, the messenger of satisfaction. These three appear as Ultra Idemitsujin whenever the Idemitsujin strive to provide comfort, energy, and satisfaction to all, embodying the motto: “Hotto for comfort, Motto for energy, and Kitto for satisfaction.”[1]

Trivia[]

  • Since Chisato Sugiura, who previously designed Zearth, had passed away, the design of the Idemitsujin trio was assigned to Hiroshi Maruyama. This was also the last original Ultraman character designed by Maruyama before he left Tsuburaya Productions in 2008.
    • According to Maruyama, he used the original design of Zearth to create the masks for the three Ultraman characters. To make the differences between the three characters more distinct, he decided to adjust their outlines and add color to their faces. To enhance the facial expressions, he incorporated eyes inspired by Ultraman Gaia, while also experimenting with eyes from Ultraman Tiga and the original Ultraman. After continuous experimentation and adjustments, the final designs were confirmed.[4]
  • Their helmets, crafted by Kaimai Productions, feature Idemitsu’s emblem and were uniquely modified to suit each character’s distinct appearance.
