Ultra Heroine Legend: Contest of Goddesses is a direct-to-video documentary special focusing on the Ultraman Series, spotlighting the heroines who appeared from Ultra Q to Ultraman Gaia. The program features insights from the original production staff, who provide introductions to these characters. Notably, the documentary highlights three actresses: Hiroko Sakurai, Mitsuko Hoshi, and Takami Yoshimoto, sharing behind-the-scenes stories from their time working on the series.
The documentary was released on February 25, 2005. To celebrate its launch, a signing event was held on March 5 of the same year at HMV Shinjuku SOUTH, with Sakurai and Hoshi appearing as guest speakers.[2]
Synopsis[]
The Ultraman series spans multiple eras, starting with the Showa Era's Ultra Q and extending to the Heisei Era's TDG series, showcasing the franchise's evolution over time.
This special program features invaluable testimonies from the original production team, a special discussion between Hiroko Sakurai and director Akio Jissoji, and a visit to memorable filming locations led by Mitsuko Hoshi. It also includes behind-the-scenes footage from Takami Yoshimoto’s appearance in Ultraman Tiga episode 50 "Take Me Higher!", revealed for the first time.
Additionally, the program presents a newly recorded theme song by composer Toru Fuyuki, offering a fresh perspective on the unique charm of the heroines from the Ultraman series.
