Though the exact date of the conflict's start is unknown, it reached its climax in 1972 when Jack successfully destroyed Zetton II and killed the Alien Bat who was using the creature as his invasion monster. With this attack on Earth halted, Jack left to assist his comrades in striking down an all-out invasion attempt on the Land of Light that was taking place concurrently. Pre-Return of Ultraman[]
The entire war started due to Ultraman Hikari creating the Life Solidification Technology, enabling Ultras who were killed to be brought back to life. This invention caught the interest of many alien races, including the people of Planet Bat. When the Ultras refused to share the technology with other aliens, fearing the potential that this technology had if placed in the wrong hands, tensions on Planet Bat skyrocketed, eventually resulting in a civil war. The Planet Bat Federal Army emerged as the dominant faction, and, planning to take the Life Solidification Technology by force, initiated the Ultra Annihilation Project. While the majority of the Planet Bat Federal Army made their way to the Land of Light to commence the interplanetary war, a lone soldier went to assassinate Ultraman Jack on Earth with Zetton II as his vanguard.
Return of Ultraman[]
By kidnapping Jiro Sakata and Rumiko Murano, Alien Bat trapped them at the Toa Stadium and forced Hideki Go in a desperate situation to rescue them while struggling to transform due to the original Zetton having killed the original Ultraman once. Alien Bat has the monster rampaging on a city to divert MAT's attention while he bombed their bases, reducing most of their assets to several patrol cars, a handful of weapons and a MAT Arrow.
As Alien Bat threatened to execute Jiro and Rumiko, MAT used what resources they had left to mount a rescue operation, freeing the alien's hostages. After crashing his MAT Arrow, Go transformed into Ultraman Jack and fought both monster and alien in what appears to be the last day of his duty on Earth. With Go presumed dead by his MAT teammates, he was able to retain his humanity without having to reveal the truth about him being Jack's host. Jack then left the planet to journey to the Land of Light, where he went on to support the other Ultras in their conflict. The 5 Ultra Oaths
The Ultraman Mebius[]
The true battle between the Planet Bat Federal Army and the Ultras was massive, and so many Ultras participated in defending the Land of Light, including a young Mebius. The Federal Army unleashed a troop of Zettons and the fight ended with the Ultras being the victor, but both sides suffered heavy losses. Following the conclusion of the conflict, Hikari resigned from the Space Science Department, blaming himself for the outbreak of the civil war that led to the wider conflict. However, before he left, he was awarded his Star Marks to celebrate his efforts in creating a way to bring Ultras back from the dead. Hikari decided to go on a journey to explore outer space, eventually leading him to Planet Arb where he would encounter its people for the first time.
