Tubahn was a draconic alien and practitioner of the Cosmo Beast Style.

Conception

Etymology

As with most of the Cosmo Beast Fighters, Tubahn's name is taken from the star named Thuban, the brightest star in the Draco constellation, whose name in turn is derived from the Arabic word ثعبان (thuʿbān), meaning 'large snake'.

Design

As with all Cosmo Beast Fighters, Tubahn is designed by Shoma Muto.

Personality

Tubahn is a free-spirited fighter who dislikes conforming to rules and conventions.

History

Ultraman Regulos

Tubahn and his brother Phoros learned the Cosmo Beast Style under their master, Alude. The two brothers were opposites in personality, but they always ended up in a draw during their spars against each other. When Phoros became an instructor himself, he expelled Tubahn for his wild and unruly nature, deeming him unfit to remain among the other Cosmo Beast Fighters. He remained in a cave alone for some time, fighting the monsters he would find down there such as Guebasser. One day, after the attack of the Alien Magma, Ultraman Regulos fell into where Tubahn was and met him by chance. Seeing Regulos' intense desire to get stronger, Tubahn decided to train him in the Flaming Red Dragon Fist style every night when the other Cosmo Beast Fighters were sleeping, until the day where he had nothing left to teach to Regulos, advising his student to not give in to his anger and to commune with a Cosmo Beast to master his fighting style. Phoros noticed Regulos was using a familiar fighting style and decided to follow him, learning that he was being trained by Tubahn to use the Flaming Red Dragon Fist, leading the brothers to clash out of their equal concern over Regulos.

When Volcan returned for a rematch, Phoros and Tubahn entered the fray to fight the Magmas, killing Yurub and Lava. They arrived too late to prevent Volcan from killing Albeo and Pharood, and both brothers fought Volcan to avenge their juniors' deaths, though they were pushed back. To protect Regulos from Volcan's attack, they both stood in the way of his beam, which killed them both. They passed their Cosmo Beasts to Regulos as a parting gift before they finally died. ^{Ultraman Regulos}

Trivia

• Tubahn's free-spiritedness contrasting Phoros' seriousness is a reference to the ancient concept of yin and yang being portrayed as the white tiger and the green dragon. The green dragon is said to represent yang (light) and has the traits of exciting, auspicious, successful, fiery, intense and honorable, some of which fits with Tubahn's behavior.
