Trivia[]
- The sequel to this episode is episode 44 "Ghighi vs Gon."
- In the first season of Ultraman Cosmos, the side stories of Captain Hiura and Vice-captain Shinobu were not given much focus. This episode serves as a supplement to that.
- Producer Hiroyasu Shibuya stated: "Ultraman Cosmos has consistently explored the personal lives of its EYES members. episode 17 focused on the captain, while the following episode 18 shifted the spotlight to the vice-captain. During this period, the production team also considered toy-related promotional plans—specifically, the release of the EYES briefcase, which included the classic "Mighty Tool" as seen in the movie. With this in mind, production team developed a story that tied into these elements and took the opportunity to introduce Hiura's love interest, Sawaguchi, to add further depth to the narrative."[3]
- The special effects were overseen by director Hirochika Muraishi, who incorporated various intricate details into the battle scenes. For instance, Ghighi's projectile attacks featured different colors, each representing distinct characteristics of the individual entities.
- Additionally, regarding Ghighi's design, Muraishi proposed: "Since it appears in a labyrinth, why not incorporate that concept into its design?" As a result, the final design retained Dada aesthetic while incorporating maze-like geometric patterns.
