Toshiyuki Kohda is one of the main characters of Ultraman Dyna. He is the vice-captain of Super GUTS.
Personality[]
Kohda is a serious-natured person who take his role as second-in-command very seriously. He is often calm and level-headed even in the face of great adversity. However, he can sometimes lose his cool when personal matters are involved.
His hobby is to appreciate opera, so sometimes he says some affected or emotional words. At the same time, he is quite protective and caring of the members of Super GUTS. He will not tolerate anyone insulting his comrades, even if the other party is a superior.

According to TPC 's records, Kohda was born on September 20, 1985, in Kumamoto. His family belongs to the Shimazu clan, which naturally instilled in him the spirit of a samurai. In 2000, he enrolled in Kumamoto High School, one of the top schools in the Kyushu region. As a student with inherent leadership qualities, he actively participated in student council activities. From 2002 to 2003, he won the championship in Japanese kendo competitions.
After graduation, he was admitted to the Department of Political Science at Waseda University. Although he initially aspired to become a politician, he changed his direction after learning about the environment at UNDF and reevaluated his values. Therefore, in 2004, for the reasons mentioned above, he left Waseda University.
Subsequently, he graduated with excellent results from the Tokyo Officer School and joined TPC.
Kohda who used to be a trainee
During his time as a TPC trainee, Kohda was friends with a man called Fujikura. While Fujikura set his sights on the sea, Kohda looked to space. Unfortunately, Fujikura critically injured his leg during a rugby match. As a result, Fujikura could no longer fulfill his dream of piloting a submarine; but even so, he never gave up and focused on a new dream. Sometime before joining Super GUTS, Kohda had met the former GUTS vice-captain Munakata during the GUTS entrance exam and expressed his admiration for the man, who he hoped to be as great as him one day. The Time of Resolution

Ultraman Dyna[]
With the restructuring of TPC, Kohda became a new member of the new special team "Super GUTS" established by TPC. Trusted by Captain Hibiki, he often served as the on-site commander at the front line while Hibiki was stationed at headquarters. When he first appeared, he served as an instructor with Ryo for the Super GUTS, conducting space training for the students of the ZERO Training Squad. In the end, they chose Shin Asuka as the new member of the team.
When the Mars base was attacked by Darambia, Kohda once drove with Asuka to the site to assist, but due to Asuka's reckless actions, he was injured in the attack and briefly fell into a coma. He was saved by the new Ultra in a moment of desperation.A New Light (Part 1)

Although he would not complain when he made mistakes himself, he would become very angry when his beloved partner was injured. As Asuka progressed from a newcomer to a capable member of the team with the assistance of Kohda as his main senior, their relationship gradually became very good. Kohda often provided Asuka with many important suggestions throughout the series, and the two frequently worked together on missions. Kohda became an important figure in controlling Asuka's outbursts, and they even had lazy scenes together in the series. However, due to considerations of mission issues and changing circumstances, Kohda and Asuka clashed several times during the series.
When his friend Fujikura's designed Traleton was attacked by Diplas, he initially tried to remain calm, but as the fight with Diplas became more intense, his anger finally erupted. His anger even scared the rescue team behind him. Dream Fortress

During the Clarkov NF-3000 hijacking incident, he became emotionally agitated when Dr. Egil pushed all the blame onto Mai. During a mission to rescue Hibiki, he resorted to a final tactic by piloting a glider and performing a suicide attack on Bazob. Despite the recklessness of this plan, he demonstrated the determination to "sometimes sacrifice oneself to save lives" and carried out the mission. Final Battle[]
When Asuka and Ryo were captured by the Black Buster Corps on their way to Mars, Kohda and others, who lost contact with them, came to Mars and learned about the catastrophic event involving Terranoid in the base.

Afterward, Kohda and the other members returned to the Clarkov and, with the Neo Maxima Overdrive system prepared by Rui Kisaragi, joined Ultraman Dyna in the battle against the new Gaigaraid. However, when Clarkov's Super GUTS was about to launch an attack, Neo Gaigaraid kidnapped Ryo as a hostage and escaped into Gran-Sphere as it swallowed an asteroid. Nevertheless, Dyna managed to rescue Ryo from Neo Gaigaraid and Super GUTS launched a special laser to destroy him, but Gran-Sphere was not destroyed in the incident. Returning to Clarkov, Kohda and the others learned the truth about Ultraman Dyna's true identity as Asuka, and they arranged a new plan to use Clarkov to launch the Neo Maxima Overdrive system, clearing the path for Dyna to target Gran-Sphere. Although Asuka/Dyna ultimately succeeded in the mission, the victory was bittersweet as Asuka was sucked into a wormhole.
