Mai Tachibana was a young high school student devoted to sports. On the sports grounds she could not bring herself to talk to her crush. For her it was an unrequited love. One day she visited a rather suspicious antique store, where she obtained a three-eyed totem pole that would grant her wishes. Meanwhile, Professor Kakunoshin Watarai meets with his friends to inform them of an email he received from an old archeologist friend.
The message read "please dispose of the three-eyed totem". After leaving behind this message, the archeologist’s body was discovered, having suffered an unnatural death.
In order to develop feelings for her school crush, Senior Kumagai, Mai made her first wish to the totem pole. When Kumagai was about to be hit by a car, Mai saved him just in time, confirming their feelings for each other. However, behind this moment of happiness came a great cost: Mai herself was affected by the accident and faced a lifetime of disability. Unable to afford the expensive medical bills, Mai and her mother had no choice but to sell the house her father had left them to cover the expenses.
Mai once again prayed to the totem pole, begging it not to sell their home. However, shortly after, her mother tragically committed suicide. With a hefty insurance payout, they were spared from selling the house. Yet, consumed by remorse after losing her mother, Mai made one last wish to the totem pole: to bring her mother back to life. However, the price for this wish was Mai sacrificing her own life.
After Mai's soul vanished, so did the totem pole. However, after a while, it reappeared unnoticed in an antique shop, where another pair of high school girls came to admire it. When one of the girls impulsively made a wish to conquer the world, the totem pole's three eyes suddenly opened. Ultimately, the Third World War broke out, leading to the extinction of humanity.
