The Two Ultramen is a docudrama film that aired on NHK General on April 28, 2022. It centers around Tetsuo Kinjo and Shozo Uehara, two writers who worked on the original Ultraman series, and also features interviews with other production staff.
Synopsis[]
In 1965, Shozo Uehara, a native of Okinawa, visited Tsuburaya Productions. There, he met the awaited screenwriter, his fellow Okinawan, Tetsuo Kinjo. Kinjo, with his genius ideas, was already writing scripts for Ultra Q. Eventually, centered around Eiji Tsuburaya and others, young directors gathered to create Ultraman.
As Okinawa's return to Japan drew near, Kinjo and Uehara embarked on their respective paths, carrying with them the words they exchanged: "Don't lose to the Japanese".[1]
