Trivia[]
- Screenwriter Kenji Konuta was inspired by Inherit the Stars by James P. Hogan when developing this episode. However, the original script was too ambitious to film effectively, so Tsugumi Kitaura prepared a revised version.[2]
- The concept of the "coffin" in this episode was inspired by episode 2 of Ultraseven.
- According to director Tsugumi Kitaura, creating the setting for this episode posed significant challenges. Since it was not realistic for ruins to exist on the Moon's surface, they were reimagined as underground structures. While only the surface scenes were constructed as physical sets, these underground ruins were created entirely through compositing.
- To enhance realism while avoiding an overly exaggerated look, subtle white tones were added to Kariya's makeup.
- The episode featured around 200 VFX shots. Due to the heavy workload, some planned effects, such as the spacecraft shaking, were omitted. Although the sand-pouring scene was the first to be filmed, some post-production elements were left unfinished.
