The Showdown for Tomorrow (明日なき対決, Asu Naki Taiketsu) is the twenty-fifth episode of Ultraman Gaia.

Synopsis[]

Gamu and Fujimiya do battle as Gaia and Agul, but could their ideological clash result in even more danger for the Earth?

Plot[]

Gamu had a dream where he was stranded in the middle of a desert without knowing where to go, only to find destroyed things around him. Suddenly, he noticed a gold stone that was buried inside the sand. Realizing that it was the dead body of Ultraman Gaia, Gamu was shocked and screamed upon seeing Gaia's body.

When Gamu woke up, he noticed that stars in the sky were in a strange phase and formation, thus providing the information to Daniel and analyzing it with him. This phenomenon caught XIG's attention through Koki's information while they were observing Agul's intentions from the previous battle.

In another place, Fujimiya, who was still injured and exhausted from the previous battle with XIG and Geel II, had been taken care of by Reiko. They were looking for a bar to get something to drink, only to have Fujimiya be bullied by other customers due to his alignment with the Blue Giant and Reiko's disappearance and kidnapping issues. This incident increased Fujimiya's hatred towards humanity.

After receiving reports from astronomical scientists that the star formation is still normal, XIG received another report from Daniel that the phase of the exosphere is warped, thus causing Earth to only receive bent light. Daniel credits this analysis with his friend Gamu, much to the Commander's delight that Gamu is still doing what he has to do. Afterward, from different places, Daniel and Gamu had an online talk. Gamu told Daniel that he would find Fujimiya, while Daniel replied that Fujimiya's action made people think Alchemy Stars consisted of dangerous people. Gamu told Daniel that he had an unordinary dream about Earth's future if he couldn't stop Fujimiya. To find Fujimiya, Gamu hacked the Lizard Network from Geo Base. They warned XIG, but the commander chose to ignore it.

On the beach, Fujimiya had awoken from his sleep due to his exhaustion and had a talk with Reiko about humans as bacteria that need to be ridden soon from Earth. Reiko found it funny since Fujimiya talks like he is Earth. She finds him sad due to the burden that he has to bear as an Ultraman, only to be interpreted by Fujimiya that Reiko wants him to be uncaring to Earth. Their talk was interrupted by Gamu's arrival, who informed Fujimiya about potentially terrible things happening in the future. Fujimiya replied that he planned to invoke all Earth monsters to overcome it, much to Gamu's anger. Fujimiya's arrogance and misuse of Ultraman's power have gone too far for Gamu, thus punching the weakened Fujimiya to the ground before Reiko arbitrates them.

During their trip, Fujimiya talked to Reiko about his dream of exploring the ocean, since people only know about the surface of the ocean and all nations are focusing on their exploration of space for commercialization purposes, much to Reiko's joy to hear it. All of a sudden, Senuma with his subordinates follow their car and have a car chase until Reiko's car falls into the sea. Right before they drowned, Fujimiya transformed into Agul and got Senuma and his subordinates to get away.

Fujimiya then takes Reiko along with his Ultraman body, exploring the view of the sea. While on the ground, Gamu, who has already lost his trust in Fujimiya, transforms into Ultraman Gaia (though he had a moment of hesitation when he had the vision of Gaia and Agul's dead bodies in the middle of the desert). Reaching Agul, Gaia challenges him to fight, to which Agul accepts and has him drop Reiko first to the ground, although she resisted at first. In the middle of the open land, the two Ultras start to fight each other, much to Reiko's shock, and catch the attention of Senuma and XIG.

As the fight goes on with equality for both sides, the fight near its climax, with both sides delivering blows to each other, from kicking to throwing and crashing each other. At the same time, the wormhole starts to open a little, growing its size by absorbing the energy that was given off from both Ultras. With the final crash, both Ultras start to lose some health and energy as their Life Gauges start blinking, but still stand to fight each other, much to Reiko's dismay, as she sees no solution that will come out of their fight.
