Heiji Kira (representing Akio Jissoji) is a director at TBS who is disliked for his unconventional style. After being offered a job as a director for the series after Ultra Q at Tsuburaya Productions, soon to be titled Ultraman, he joins the team, but not all the staff approve of him. Not wanting to compromise on his vision, he continues directing in his own way, while bonding with a co-worker named Tokura.

- The film's equivalent of the Beta Capsule is called the Flash Beam , named after the light that the Beta Capsule emits when used.
- The documentary included on the DVD release aired earlier on the same day as the docudrama's airing. Titled First Reveal! Behind the Scenes of Ultraman , it features interviews with Ultraman staff, behind-the-scenes footage of the docudrama, and ends with Ultraman and many kaiju dancing in a field.
