Trivia[]
- As with The Secret of the Lake, the "Unaired Edition" of the episode (released in the Blu-ray Box) features no silhouettes used in the intro compared to the final release.
- In this episode, the name "Ultraseven" is mentioned for the first time by Anne.
- During the preparatory phase of the series, still referred to as Redman, the script for this episode already existed.
- Ishiguro and his wife traveled to Hakone on the Odakyu Romancecar 3100 series NSE train. The scene filmed "inside a tunnel" took place during nighttime at the Odakyu Kōdō Train Garage. Since it wasn't possible to stop the train inside an actual tunnel, the crew chose a garage with railway tracks that offered a certain degree of flexibility for filming. The scene where Dan and Anne rescued a woman from the train carriage was filmed at the seventh tunnel of the Hakone Tozan Line. Due to the absence of overhead cables on the railway tracks, the Romancecar couldn't operate on that line at the time, only diesel trains were running.[1][2]
- In the concluding scene of this episode, the silhouette of a man wearing a black long-sleeved shirt is seen reflected in the window behind Pointer, prompting some speculation about paranormal phenomena. However, later, this man was widely regarded as a staff member, likely because he seemed to notice the direction of the camera and turned his head slightly towards the front door, taking a small step in that direction. Consequently, as the actors commenced their performance, he found himself inadvertently stuck in place, unable to move. [3]Yuriko Hishimi clarified that the man was simply a staff member whose silhouette happened to be captured by the camera. In subsequent versions released after restoration, the image of the man has been deleted.
