Modern Protagonist: The Father of Ultra Q (現代の主役ウルトラQのおやじ, Gendai no Shuyaku Urutora Kyū no Oyaji) is a documentary about Eiji Tsuburaya that aired on TBS on June 2, 1966. Directed and written by Akio Jissoji, it focuses on the founding of Tsuburaya Productions and the creation of Ultra Q, featuring Tsuburaya's interactions with his family, the kaiju he brought to life, and commentary from Iwao Mori.^[1] It also highlights behind-the-scenes moments from Eiji Tsuburaya's work on the Toho film The War of the Gargantuas.

The program uses Godzilla's roar sound effects in many transition scenes and during the appearances of kaiju.
In 2017, the program was screened at the 29th Sukagawa International Short Film Festival. After the screening, a talk show featuring Teruyoshi Nakano was held.^[4]
