Trivia[]
- This episode explores how humanity deals with inanimate objects within the "kaiju protection" worldview. In the initial draft, EYES discovered that Igomas was actually waste through communication with Planet Vivin. However, since the series aims to expand into space, this concept was modified so that Igomas realizes it is waste through a garbage disposal label.
- The concept of making a kaiju harmless by shrinking it was already present in episode 30 "Monster Zoo" of Ultraman Tiga. At that time, there were concerns that shrinking the kaiju every time would oversimplify the problem. Therefore, in this series, it was depicted that Cosmos resolves the issue by gathering power from throughout the universe.[1]
- In this episode, cherry blossoms and other springtime landscapes appeared, which was considered inconsistent with the season, as the series aired in the summer.
- In fact, during the production of Ultraman Cosmos, the production system was reevaluated, allowing for the filming to take priority over the special effects. As a result, episode 4 was filmed on location during the spring of 2001. This led to the inclusion of cherry blossoms in the episode, despite the program airing in July.
- Initially, there were discussions about cutting the scenes featuring cherry blossoms. However, because the sight of the cherry blossoms was so beautiful, the decision was made to keep them. With the efforts of the special effects team, a suitable model of cherry blossoms was created for the special effects scenes.[2]
