Mr. Ikeyama from SRC arrived and reveal the monster's name to be Zaranga, who came to Earth once in a while to give birth to a child by diving itself into the ocean. Its earliest record of arrival was from the Edo period of Japan and Zaranga's reasoning is also to cool off its drastically increasing body temperature as a result from the pregnancy. Trivia[]
- According to producer Hiroyasu Shibuya, this episode aired as the New Year's special for the series in 2002, which is why a festive story was chosen for the broadcast. The plot involving a "monster giving birth" is quite rare in recent years, and Ultraman Cosmos, as a series, decided to take advantage of the unique nature of this theme and create such an episode.[2]
- Normally, the TECCH Thunder 1 is operated by Fubuki, but in this episode, Ayano takes the wheel, even attempting to wear sunglasses—these comedic touches were added by director Ryuichi Ichino.
- In terms of special effects, the production team came up with many creative ideas, such as depicting the scorching of surrounding items and signs due to the monster's high body temperature.
- This episode was made available on the official Ultraman YouTube channel from September 20, 2020 until the end of the following month as part of an Ultraman Foundation campaign for children at home.[3][4]
