Tetsuo Shinjoh

Tetsuo Shinjoh (新城哲生（シンジョウ・テツオ）, Shinjō Tetsuo) is one of the main characters of Ultraman Tiga. He is a member of GUTS.

Personality

Shinjoh initially had a reckless and impulsive personality, so his behavior and interactions with colleagues also had impulsive and more confrontational aspects.

However, as the series progressed, he became more mature, calm, and able to handle tasks with a decisive and rigorous attitude. However, sometimes he is rather sensitive in his emotions and also tends to be passionate and emotional.

To his comrades, he has a very positive relationship with Horii. At the same time, he is very doting on his sister Mayumi. Additionally, what he fears the most is ghosts or more terrifying things.

In terms of speech and behavior, he usually speaks in the Okinawa dialect.

History

Pre-Ultraman Tiga

Mayumi Shinjoh Tiga 2 — Shinjoh and Mayumi

Shinjoh and his sister Mayumi were born in Okinawa. Since they lost their parents at a young age, the siblings rely on each other, and they have a very close relationship. In the past, he couldn't swim, but he overcame his fear and learned how to swim to save his sister Mayumi from drowning. Afterward, motivated to protect his loved ones, he joined the military academy and trained as a fighter pilot, honing his skills in aircraft operation and marksmanship. ^{The Closed Amusement Park}

Later on, he joined TPC and became a member of GUTS.

Ultraman Tiga

After Ultraman Tiga appeared in the world, Shinjoh officially did his duties as a member of GUTS. He always acted with Horii during missions and often argued with him, but the two generally had the same attitude toward eliminating monsters. In addition, he often had the opportunity to pilot the GUTS Wing with Daigo, and they were regularly shot down by monsters and aliens, earning them the nickname of the "crash partners" of the GUTS Wing. ^{Monster Zoo}

After learning that Mayumi's boyfriend, Takuma Aoki died at the hands of Gazort II, he sometimes acted impulsively and had conflicts with other members due to his different military stance. During a mission piloting the Snow White, he got possessed by a space traveler, Maya Cruz's older brother, who was wandering in space. Her goal was to take Maya away from Earth. After secretly leaving GUTS, he was able to use Shinjoh's body and successfully reunite with his sister.

However, during an attack by Alien Natarn, Maya's older brother sacrificed himself to save Maya and Daigo, taking a bullet to protect them. Though he died, he managed to preserve the consciousness of Shinjoh, the host of his body. After Tiga's battle with Natarn was over, Maya's older brother turned into a beam of light and passed away, and the awakened Shinjoh knew everything. Tetsuo Shinjoh tiga 11 — Shinjoh destroys Iludo's mothership

During the invasion of the Iludo, he received news that his past aviation training classmate, Shin Kinosaki and Kiyoto Inui, were attacked and experimented on by Iludo on their way back to Earth. He killed the Iludian-transformed Kinosaki. After that, he not only assisted Inui in avoiding assimilation by Iludians as the mission leader but also successfully stopped Iludo's conspiracy with the help of Tiga. ^{Friend from Space}

Before Gatanothor's resurrection and the world's destruction, R'lyeh got discovered in the ocean depths. To investigate, he and Horii drove the Dolphar 202 to the deep sea, but they got attacked by Gatanothor and forced to stay on the ocean floor. After receiving the help of the superhuman Makio Kirino, they officially joined the effort to rescue the petrified Daigo with all their strength.

In the final episode of the series, he witnesses all the children of the world turn into light and witness the birth of Glitter Tiga and the process of Tiga defeating Gatanothor. In the end, he posed for a photo with the members of GUTS on the Artdessei. ^{To the Shining Ones}

Tetsuo Shinjoh tiga Movie 5 — Shinjoh witnesses the return of Glitter Tiga

After learning that Captain Iruma and the TPC investigation team lost contact on R'lyeh, he and Horii went to the ship of the R'lyeh investigation team to explore. After learning that the incident was getting out of hand, he and the members of GUTS went to R'lyeh to support operations.

In the end, he and everyone witnessed the return of Glitter Tiga and the submergence of R'lyeh.

Ultraman Tiga & Ultraman Dyna: Warriors of the Star of Light

Ultraman Dyna

Tetsuo Shinjoh dyna 1 — Shinjoh as a member of TPC's Space Development Bureau.

After GUTS officially disbanded, Shinjoh became a member of TPC's Space Development Bureau. Inheriting the will of his deceased friend Kinosaki who got taken over by the Iludians, he was appointed as the pilot of the "Romulus 3" to conduct explorations around the solar system. ^{The Smile of Destruction: Part 1}

During a mission to explore Pluto, he sent images of "Miss Smile" on the planet back to Earth, and after a quick loss of communication, successfully returned to Earth with the Romulus 3. When Geomos appeared in Rokko Mountains, he actively assisted Super GUTS and Dyna in stopping the monster's actions.
