Tachibana (タチバナ) is a guest character who appeared in Ultraman Dyna. He was the president of the Geo Front Company.

Personality[]

Tachibana possessed an extremely visionary and forward-thinking personality. According to his personal perspective, he held a different view regarding the technology invested in space development during the Neo Frontier era and believed that humanity's understanding of Earth was still not deep enough. As urban redevelopment continued to expand, leading to increasingly limited land use, he believed that humans should focus more on Earth's development to achieve higher levels of technological advancement.

Regarding the long-term project "Geo City," it not only represented a distinctive initiative compared to many companies during the Neo Frontier era but is also a personal dream of his. He once held a refusal to cooperate with anything that hindered the progress of the project but later realized, upon reflection, that his excessive ambition was clouding his judgment, leading to a change in his stance.

Tachibana Dyna 009

Tachibana in childhood.

During his childhood, Tachibana had a strong fascination with ants. He often placed ants in glass jars to observe their nest-building process. However, as the Neo Frontier era approached, and humanity's interest in space development grew significantly, an adult Tachibana shifted his focus to the development of "Geo City," touted as the "largest underground city in history." According to the blueprints, the city was inspired by ant colonies and consisted of three hemispherical structures. He envisioned that humans, like ants, could construct awe-inspiring spaces underground, thus initiating this ambitious project.

According to the engineering infrastructure, Geo Front utilized a novel technology known as "PW Wave" for excavation, capable of breaking down even the toughest rocks into powder form. However, this inadvertently attracted Daigelun.

Geo City

Tachibana showed the concept map of Geo City at the press conference.

Shortly after the construction of Geo City began, a series of mysterious earthquakes occurred in the surrounding areas of Aoba City. After an investigation, Super GUTS confirmed that the seismic source was moving continuously and suspected that underground monsters might be causing these earthquakes. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the seismic source was moving in a circular pattern around the center of Geo City. As a result, Asuka and Kohda went to the construction site to negotiate with the company's personnel. Through this interaction, they learned that Geo Front's use of the PW Wave technology might have been the reason for attracting the monsters.

At this time, Tachibana and his secretary, Yukina, were attending a press conference at the Geo Front headquarters, where they provided a detailed introduction to the facilities of Geo City. When asked by reporters on-site why they had chosen to construct a city underground, Tachibana emphasized that Geo City was not just a leisure facility but a true representation of the "Geo Frontier Era."

Upon receiving an urgent notification from Hibiki, he left the press conference to negotiate with Hibiki. Upon learning that the PW Wave had been shut down, Tachibana, with an intense demeanor, stated that thorough investigations of the surrounding areas had been conducted long before the project began, and no monsters had been found. He also expressed his objections to the interference of Super GUTS.

Tachibana emphasized that the PW Wave was a crucial facility for the development of Geo City and believed that repelling Daigelun was the responsibility of Super GUTS, unrelated to the company. Nevertheless, Hibiki advocated for negotiation and a cautious approach. Subsequently, Tachibana ordered security to detain Asuka and Kohda, who remained at the construction site, and restarted the PW Wave for excavation work. He intended to maximize the output power, thinking that the monster disliked the PW Wave technology and could be driven away by increasing the output. However, this action resulted in even greater chaos. Daigelun mistakenly perceived the PW Wave as food, emerged from underground following the radio waves, and began to destroy surface facilities.

As the workers began to evacuate, Tachibana and his secretary, Yukina, along with Asuka, became trapped in a collapsed building, unable to escape and forced to stay in place. In this critical moment, Tachibana, who had become calm, began to share his childhood memories with Asuka, helping Asuka understand why Tachibana was so determined to push forward with the project.

Suddenly, Daigelun appeared near Asuka and others. The renewed earthquakes caused the building to nearly collapse. Asuka transformed into Ultraman Dyna, successfully escaping from underground and rescuing Tachibana and Yukina in the nick of time. Subsequently, an intense battle unfolded between Ultraman Dyna and Daigelun.

Tachibana Dyna 012

Tachibana changed his mind and decided to create a more ideal Geo City.

In the end, Dyna, in his Strong Type form for the first time, successfully defeated Daigelun. While the construction facilities of Geo City were damaged, Tachibana saw this incident as an opportunity to create an underground city that everyone could enjoy, not just for himself.
