Shohei Moriwaki is a main character in Ultraman Orb THE ORIGIN SAGA. He is a researcher at the Tianhe Institute of Biological Sciences and also a marine biologist.

Shohei possesses a tenacious and persistent personality, filled with boundless enthusiasm for scientific research and exploration. He maintains a deep curiosity about uncharted territories and complex problems, being willing to relentlessly strive to solve seemingly impossible challenges.
After coming into contact with the seeds of the "Tree of Life", Shohei's brain underwent an evolution. This not only elevated his cognitive abilities but also enhanced his synchronicity. He established a unique spiritual connection with Amate from Planet Kanon. This connection transcended ordinary emotional bonds, enabling them to better understand each other's emotions and thoughts during difficult times, gradually drawing them towards each other.
However, due to his excessive focus on the connection with Amate, he began to neglect other important aspects of his life. This intense fixation also led to a deterioration in his mental stability, manifesting in some peculiar behaviors. Nevertheless, his unwavering determination and resolute willpower allowed him to overcome these challenges, particularly displaying extraordinary perseverance during missions to rescue Amate.

When first introduced, Shohei and Yui were in the midst of a submarine exploration mission. They were exploring the enigmatic ruins of an ancient civilization located 4,000 meters deep in the Sea of Japan. During this expedition, they stumbled upon a mysterious seed within the ruins. As they brought this seed back to the surface, Shohei came into contact with it.
In that very moment, he established a spiritual connection with Amate on Planet Kanon, which is situated approximately 70,000 light-years away from Earth, as they both touched the seed of the Tree of Life. Driven by his lingering curiosity about the seed, Shohei attempted to touch it once again. However, he was forcefully propelled backward by the seed's powerful resonance. On Planet Kanon, as Amate transformed into the War Deity and was injected with Puppetry Poison by Queen Bezelb, Shohei was rushed to the emergency room for treatment. He told her that if she continued to be controlled, her inner self would be lost forever. Despite his efforts, the War Deity eventually succumbed to a berserk state. At this critical moment, guided by Earth's consciousness, a man named Gamu Takayama from another universe swiftly arrived on Shohei's Earth and rescued them. After fully understanding the situation, Shohei made a resolute decision to protect the Tree of Life and subsequently had his initial encounter with Gai, the "Warrior of Light," who had arrived on Earth.
After a thorough examination by Gamu, they discovered that Shohei's pineal gland had evolved, allowing him to establish a connection with Amate. This enabled them to communicate, which was previously impossible, and confirmed that the Tree of Life was the key to advancing the intelligence of living beings. Despite the seeds of the Tree of Life being preserved on millions of planets across the cosmos, it was Shohei and Amate's connection through touching the seed that activated the one on Earth.

The following day, Japanese news reports began to cover the appearance of the Tree of Life in Tokyo. Anxious about Amate's warning, Shohei tried to urge Aoi and other members investigating the tree to evacuate. However, he was immediately captured by Bezelb, who had arrived on Earth. Sensing Shohei's capture, Amate decided to go to Earth to rescue him. Fortunately, with the assistance of Ultraman Gaia and Ultraman Orb, they successfully rescued Shohei. Through real-time news reports, Shohei and the others learned that the Japanese government's Cabinet meeting had decided to issue an emergency evacuation order for the residents of Tokyo under the Emergency Disaster Measures Act. The JSDF was proceeding with the next step of their plan to destroy the Tree of Life. Just at this moment, Shohei once again sensed the presence of Amate and received news of her arrival on Earth.

When Amate and the others landed, they met for the first time and embraced each other with excitement. However, they both sensed the sorrow emanating from Queen Bezelb. However, due to the incomplete structure of the seed, they couldn't prevent the War Deity's rampage. Despite experiencing failure, the determination to rescue Amate only made Shohei more resolute. Upon witnessing the Tree of Life bearing fruit, he decided to journey to the top of the Tree alongside Yui in search of the seeds. However, when they found the fruits, they discovered that they hadn't fully ripened and showed no signs of illumination. In their disappointment, Yui's encouragement ignited his confidence, and through fervent prayer, a miraculous connection with Amate's consciousness was established once again. This time, the connection generated the most powerful resonance, causing all the fruits of the Tree of Life to blossom with the hope of life. Ultimately, this successfully freed Amate from the influence of the toxin.
Following the victories of the five Ultras, the Tree of Life on Earth was preserved. Amate returned to her original self and reunited with Shohei and the others. She expressed special gratitude for the efforts of Shohei and Yai, acknowledging that pursuing a conflict-free world in the current universe was indeed a challenge.
