Trivia[]
- Daigo has very few appearances in this episode, which, according to Chiaki J. Konaka, was due to scheduling conflicts with Hiroshi Nagano.[1]
- This episode was a rushed production. Originally, the episode slated for production was episode 11, "Requiem to the Darkness". However, since it was summer and securing rental locations for outdoor scenes was challenging, production was postponed, and this new story was created instead, centered around the concept, "What if unknown creatures still exist on Earth?"[2]
- According to Kyota Kawasaki, the script was handed to the team at the last minute, leaving insufficient time for in-depth study, which led to a limited understanding of this episode’s deeper themes.
- For the aerial combat scenes, rather than using models, the production chose to convey a sense of massive scale by filming with real settings, employing suspended suits for the characters. This episode also marked the first time the production team filmed special effects scenes depicting destruction in an actual city setting.
- In this episode, Rena’s voice is heard multiple times by Daigo, who is trapped inside the cocoon of the Clitter, as if through telepathy. This scene was actually created without any prior approval. However, due to this, the concept was quickly accepted by other writers and became a consensus within the production team.[3]
- According to Chiaki J. Konaka, when planning the relationship between Daigo and Rena, he had the idea from the early stages of the series.
