SSSS.GRIDMAN Short Story: Diamond in the Notebook(SSSS.GRIDMAN・SS ~ノートの中の宝石~, Guriddoman Shōto Sutōrī Nōto no naka no Hōseki) is a short novel written in the SSSS.DYNAZENON Super Complete Works(SSSS.GRIDMAN超全集, Guriddoman Chō Zenshū) book, focusing on Sho Utsumi's flashback at some point during SSSS.GRIDMAN.

Plot[]
The story is told from the perspective of Sho Utsumi, who flashes back to at some point of time while on his way home from school.
He briefly met Akane Shinjo at a bookstore where the two would later have a date, while being fully aware of her true identity as the instigator of the Kaiju attacks.
Utsumi went to Junk Shop Aya where Yuta was doing his homework under Rikka's supervision while the Neon Genesis Junior High Students loitered around the store's bar. Gridman curiously inquired Utsumi about the book he read in front of Junk's screen. The book in question was a Super Complete Works, which entailed about full information in regards to a particular media. Through Samurai・Calibur's suggestion, Utsumi decided to create his own through his spare notebook.
Utsumi asked each of the NGJHS members about each others' Assist Weapons with varying results; Calibur complied about the limit of his slicing abilities, Borr gave sarcastic remarks about his drilling ability, Vit lazily explained that being able to fly alone is enough and Max provided more than necessary information about his team. Rikka then suggested to include Yuta as well into Utsumi's book while the latter had just finished his homework.
Back in the present day, Utsumi returns home and reminisced about the writings he did that time as something priceless.
Trivia[]
Utsumi's flashback seems to take place at some point after the events of episode 8, given that the Gridman Alliance and Neon Genesis Junior High Students having recognition of Full Powered Gridman. Outside of the flashback however, no real mention as to when did Utsumi's sole appearances took place.
