The S-Class Species Suppression Protocol , abbreviated as SSSP , is a countermeasure team established by the Japanese government to deal with "S-Class Species". They appear in Shin Ultraman.[1][2]
History[]
Shin Ultraman[]
After "S-Class Species" appeared in various parts of Japan one after another, experts from the Disaster Prevention Agency and the S-Class Species Disaster Reconstruction Headquarters selected 5 elites from the private sector and various ministries and agencies to jointly establish SSSP.
The main task of the team is to conduct strategic planning and analysis of the current situation in the disaster area, with the aim of dealing with "S-Class Species". Its members are seconded from various agencies of the Japanese government, including the Ministry of Defense, National Police Agency, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and Public Security Intelligence Agency.
SSSP was formally established after the disappearance of S-Class Species No.4 Larugeus, and was dispatched for the first time when Kaigel appeared, and cooperated with the Self-Defense Forces in this incident to successfully eliminate the creature through continuous offensives. When Pagos appeared, the team used an unknown method to expel it by freezing it.
Bases[]

Trivia[]
Kato Ta-Kun
- SSSP has a mascot character named Kato Ta-Kun , which is designed based on SSSP's comet symbol and features cartoon-like eyes and limbs.[9]
- In the initial planning stages, SSSP members were to have orange jackets as their special attire for deployment, and fittings had already been conducted. However, this attire was ultimately not adopted. As a compromise, the armbands of the suits were changed to orange. The design of the emblem was initially vertical, but a horizontal version was also created to accommodate other uses.[10][11]
- SSSP's deployment scenes feature the use of the "SSSP Theme" from the original series, and the original SSSP's background music is also used frequently during missions. Additionally, the telephone ring tone in the office is the same as the radio call sound used in the original SSSP base.
- The wall clock in the office is the same shape as the clock in the original Ultraman SSSP base control room. Additionally, the main monitors of the members' computers use a static image from Mighty Jack as wallpaper.[12]
- To save production costs, the SSSP uses commercially available vehicles and adds the team emblem to the body of the cars.
