Trivia[]
- During the drafting and finalization stages of the script, the temporary title for the episode was "SOS Deep Blue" , which was later changed to the current title.
- According to Nobuhisa Kodama, the story of this episode centers on the consequences of reckless human development, emphasizing that both humans and animals can be harmed by unchecked progress. The intention was to capture the style of Ultra Q and Ultraman, while also incorporating a key element: "the flexible use of machinery", specifically, using technology to rescue people in crisis. Kodama also noted that he had considered expanding the scenes involving Rena's interaction with the dolphin.[2]
- Director Shinichi Kamizawa explained that while the episode appears to be set by the sea, the water scenes were not filmed on location at an actual beach. Instead, the tokusatsu sequences were staged entirely within a set constructed around a real swimming pool. This was necessary because the crew could not freely move around in natural settings, requiring careful planning to make effective use of the water in the shots.
- The dolphin Myu, which appears in this episode, later makes a return appearance in Ultraman Tiga: The Final Odyssey.
