In the past, due to her parents' work, Rin frequently moved from place to place during her childhood. Among the many cities she lived in, Hoshimoto City was her favorite. This is why Rin chose to settle there after reaching adulthood.

In high school, Rin was a solitary student, focused on studying, reading, and working toward her goals. During this time, her interest in mechanical engineering and programming grew, though she still struggled to find clear direction. She was also sensitive to others' judgments.

Influenced by Yamagami, Rin found his ideal and joined SKIP soon after.

Influenced by Yamagami, Rin found his ideal and joined SKIP soon after.

One day, while searching for books on mechanical engineering at a university library, she met Satoru Yamagami. Their discussion sparked her interest in the field, and with Yamagami's guidance, Rin decided to pursue it. She began attending his lectures regularly, developing a mentor-student relationship.

Influenced by Yamagami's example, Rin became more outgoing and engaged in academic discussions, especially with him. This helped her discover her true passion for helping others. Inspired by his decision to join SKIP, Rin resolved to follow suit after reaching adulthood, hoping to reunite with him once she was able to stand on her own. Goodbye, Rin

Rin became an investigator and programmer at the SKIP Hoshimoto City branch. By then, she had become an exceptional programmer, skilled in mechanics, and was responsible for system maintenance and equipment development. She also led the development of the AI robot "YouPi," In her personal time, Rin attended craft classes, specifically embroidery. Quietly creating intricate, colorful patterns with her hands became an important way for her to decompress and find peace amidst her busy life.[4]

As Yuma's senior, Rin is cheerful, straightforward, and dedicated. On his first day, she helps him adjust to his new role as an investigator. During a break, she learns about his traumatic past and offers support with kindness and encouragement.

When Digelos appears, Yuma panics due to his past trauma. Rin steps in to help him regain composure, and together, they assist with the evacuation. During this, she and Bin witness the "Giant of Light" Yuma had mentioned. Unleash Your Imagination!

Ultraman Arc[]

In her debut, Rin investigated "Monohorn" with Hiroshi Ban on Mt. Shishio, the horn of the Monogelos from the "K-DAY" incident. Using detectors, they discovered a creature, "Oo-ze," which then burrowed underground and parasitized the kaiju Shagong. With help from GDF investigator Shu Ishido, the team learned that Oo-Ze forced Shagong to ingest calcium carbonate, mutating it into a giant kaiju nearly 50 meters tall. The creature began heading toward Hayama Chemical Industries in Hoshimoto City, prompting Rin to assist with the evacuation. She witnessed the battle between Ultraman Arc and Shagong. The next day, she welcomed Shu as the new Special Investigator. Arc to the Future

Rin and Yuma conducted a joint investigation into the frequent "rat infestation" incidents occurring in the shopping street.

A few weeks later, Rin and Yuma visited their favorite neighborhood shopping street for lunch. The shopkeepers mentioned strange incidents, including damage to the store's power system, which seemed caused by unusually large rats targeting the system, not food.

It was reported that a certain university had discovered a new species of rat, named Electricamus nipponicus, which carries a unique bacteria. These rats seemed to be spreading and multiplying in Hoshimoto City. As SKIP's investigation progressed, Rin, Yuma, and YouPi suspected they might be hiding in the Kawami Heavy Industries factory, which powers the city using the explosive mineral "daimode".

After receiving permission to investigate, Rin found a giant rat in the lab, the size of a human. The rat attacked, but after being struck by Rin's Compact Launcher, it was electrocuted by the generator and merged with other rats, becoming a 50-meter kaiju, Nezutron. Nezutron began absorbing daimode energy, threatening a disaster.

To prevent a potential explosion from excessive daimode absorption, Rin and YouPi returned to base to shut down the generator. YouPi accessed the factory's system and found the temperature rising. Rin stopped the generator, disabling Nezutron's abilities and giving Ultraman Arc the upper hand.

After the battle, Rin, YouPi, and the factory staff cheered for Ultraman Arc as he defeated Nezutron in Solis Armor. Rin then reported the incident to headquarters and rejoined her friends from the shopping street. On the Kaiju's Tail

Some time later, Neronga appeared on the outskirts of Hoshimoto City. SKIP used You-bot to lure it near a pylon with a power-generating device. When Neronga absorbed too much electricity from the high-voltage lines, it overcharged and collapsed. Yamagami, now part of the SKIP HQ's Kaiju Analysis Unit, arrived with the team, and Rin was also delighted to reunite with her mentor.

Rin fell into depression after realizing that Yamagami's criminal behavior was true.

However, Yamagami was already under suspicion by the GDF Intelligence Bureau for illegally selling kaiju cells, and Rin was assigned to investigate. At the Neronga cell collection site, tight security led Yamagami to speculate the smugglers had abandoned their operation, a comment accompanied by his habit of touching his chin—something Rin had noticed when he lied. This confirmed Rin's suspicions that her mentor was involved in smuggling.

As they reminisced, Rin confessed that SKIP Headquarters suspected him and expressed her genuine desire to help. Yamagami then asked her to bring kaiju cells from the branch. Under the setting sun, Rin pretended to offer Neronga's cells, but Yamagami found the suitcase empty. To his surprise, the other members of SKIP were there as well. Rin admitted she hoped he would atone for his actions.

During the dispute between the two, Rin realized that Yamagami was no longer the mentor he admired before.

As the situation reached a standstill, the supposedly dead Neronga began discharging electricity and rose to its feet—it had only been feigning death. A greater crisis unfolded as Pagos emerged, charging toward Neronga. Amid the chaos, Yamagami fled, but Rin chased after him. When questioned, Yamagami explained that he couldn't accept the destruction of kaiju by humans, believing they should be studied and utilized for the future rather than destroyed for the present.

The kaiju disaster was ultimately contained through the efforts of Ultraman Arc. Yamagami, having given up his struggle, was taken for GDF investigation. As they parted ways, Yamagami remarked that he no longer remembered the time he spent with Rin.

Saddened, Rin reminisced about her high school days with Yamagami. The happiness from that time was an essential part of her life, and she decided to say goodbye to her youthful past. At that moment, YouPi appeared beside her, expressing its everlasting love and hope that Rin would find happiness. Rin looked at it with a reassuring smile and resolved to move forward toward a new chapter in her life. Goodbye, Rin

During an incident in Kitagawa Town involving unusual signals, SKIP received a report of a kaiju sighting in the area. Rin discovered that her high school classmate, Aoi, was attempting to protect a kaiju named Dori-chan. However, consumed by Aoi's resentment, Dori-chan transformed into the King of Mons. After Arc successfully averted the crisis, Rin and Aoi were transported by a Red Sphere to a nearby building, where they learned the true nature of the Red Sphere. The Dream Bird

As Yuma's increasingly erratic behavior raised suspicions, and anomalies were observed during the Guilebaku incident, Rin and the other members of SKIP finally realized the truth— Yuma was Ultraman Arc. However, they could only watch helplessly as Yuma transformed once again to face Guilebaku, falling victim to the illusions created by its Dream Ray. The Descending Dream

To rescue Arc and Yuma, SKIP analyzed Guilebaku's organs and discovered its electromagnetic wave properties. Rin developed an Onyxium Particle emitter to dismantle Guilebaku's barrier. After Sweed was defeated, Earth's crisis was averted. To save Arc's homeworld, Yuma decided to leave Earth, bidding farewell to the members of SKIP.

3 months later, as Shu prepared to return to GDF, Rin informed the team that she had noticed a flickering light in the western sky the previous night. She believed it to be a signal from Yuma, a message entrusted to the team. Shortly after, she and the SKIP team received a surprise call on the Kaiju Hotline—from none other than Yuma. Time to Run, Yuma!

Trivia[]

  • According to Kaho Mizutani's interview, she actually auditioned for the role of an Ultraman heroine when she was in her teens, but was not successful at that time. Since the role in Ultraman Arc is that of the protagonist's assistant and has an older-sister-like presence, she felt that this character suited her current self well and decided to audition for it.[7]
