Trivia[]
- This episode is a tribute of "Demons Rise Again" from Ultraman.
- The episode is also in tribute to Return of Ultraman episode 49 "Space Warriors - Your Name Is MAT" given that the two aliens came from the same race but different affiliations just like Alien Mysteler.
- In the initial draft, the two Alien Standel characters were named Ava and Zelda . Ava manipulated humans to defeat Zelda, intending to take humans back to then home planet afterward. The Old Lady did not appear in the original version.[2]
- Hidenori Miyazawa noted that this episode was based on one of the original plot ideas he had proposed. As the concept was suited for a more adult-oriented story, the script underwent two revisions before the final draft was completed. However, due to tight production schedules, director Shinichi Kamizawa modified it into a format that could be filmed more efficiently. Additionally, while the initial story treatment explored the theme of mutual hatred arising from differences in skin color, this was considered too difficult to convey, so the concept was revised to focus on differences between day and night instead.
- Director Shinichi Kamizawa recalled that the central theme of the episode was about communication: "What does it mean to communicate? If we can speak the same language, does that mean we can truly understand each other? Or is it a shared foundation of life that is essential?" He also noted that, although the elderly woman could not communicate with the younger characters, she was able to connect with the aliens. Kamizawa emphasized that as long as viewers could appreciate these subtle nuances, the story would resonate. He further explained that the decision to revise the script was influenced by the fact that a similar plot involving aliens abducting humans had already been featured in episode 13 "Human Collecting."
