The Puzzle Woman was originally a terminally ill girl that played with puzzles by herself until she died. Feeling lonely in the afterlife she sent out puzzles to people in mail letters and if they did not complete them she would kill them.
One such letter with no address on it arrived at Mochizuki’s house and inside the envelope were a number of pieces from a jigsaw puzzle. He began to assemble it, however when he completed the puzzle it was still unfinished. The puzzle itself depicted a woman wearing a most characteristic anklet. "What… is this?" he asked himself. One by one the puzzle pieces arrived, and Mochizuki would assemble them.
Soon he began to sense he was being followed around by the Puzzle Woman. One evening he saw a leg wearing the anklet, and later at night a mysterious woman grabbed him around the neck. Mochizuki eventually tried confronting the Puzzle Woman by befriending her, but she did not respond.
Mochizuki decided to finish the puzzle, causing it to glow and allowing the Puzzle Woman to be happy and take him, willingly, with her to the next life. The Puzzle Woman
