Trivia[]
- The sequel to this episode is episode 55 "Final Test."
- The monster Mienin featured in this episode was designed with the intent to make the creatures more understandable to children. The design was inspired by classic kaiju's like Pigmon and Garamon, and the name of the meteorite was also derived from "Garadama".
- Initially, there was consideration for Koji Ishizaka to narrate the episode, but after careful consideration, it was decided against, as it could risk resembling Ultra Q.[1]
- Under the direction of Kazuya Konaka, the episode took on a juvenile-style narrative. Producer Shibuya mentioned that he and Director Ichino had a long-standing collaboration dating back to their time as assistant directors in film production. Despite Konaka's busy schedule during the filming of this series, he still made time to take on this project.
- In Junki Takegami's original storyline concept for this episode, the founder of SRC would appear, and Mienin was originally set to be a monster who had helped the founder. This plot would have led to the creation of SRC, but Mienin would eventually transform into the violent Gamoran. Although this storyline progression was considered, Director Konaka expressed a desire to focus on a narrative centered around young people. Ultimately, the story developed into its current form.
