Omi Yanase is a minor character in Ultraman Tiga. He is Rena Yanase's father and the head of TPC's Space Station Delta.

13 years ago, he promised with Rena that he will give Rena a lipstick on her ninth birthday. However, he and his wife divorced and he didn’t come back to give his daughter the birthday gift, which made Rena very sad and angry at her father for 13 years. As for Omi Yanase, he still misses his daughter and he always hopes that one day he could return to Earth to meet and keep his promise with his daughter Rena.
One day, while in a space station, an unknown ship nearly collided with the station, Omi warning if the ship does not reply, they will be destroyed. However, this ship still come closer, which makes Omi fire the Valkyrie Cannon to save 278 people on the station. When he was returning to Earth, his ship was attacked and destroyed by Alien Reguran, which makes Rena worry and she uses one of GUTS Wing to come there immediately.
Meanwhile, Captain Iruma explains to the other members that Engineer Yanase is Rena's father and abandoned her 13 years ago and she appoints them to rescue the survivors in Mr. Yanase's ship. Actually, Omi is still alive, he is injured and gets unconscious. Shigeki Asamiya, his close friend rescues him and finds that he is holding the lipstick, which he meant to give Rena, in his hand, and Asamiya stuffs the lipstick into Omi's pocket. Suddenly, Alien Reguran appears and kills Asamiya and says that he is here to get revenge for his comrades that Omi destroyed (the ship that Omi warned before destroying earlier) and kidnaps Omi.
On the way finding her father, Rena reveals to Daigo that their parents divorced when she was 9 years old and Omi chose work over his family and never looked back. After that her mother didn't want anymore to do with him but she still worried about her father. However, Alien Reguran appears again to kidnap Rena and he tries to kill Daigo, but Daigo survives.
In the alien base, he tortures Rena with an electric current, and Omi tries his best to rescue his daughter. The alien reveals that his wife and the young daughter were on the ship which Omi destroyed and he wants to see Omi suffer the same pain he did. Omi apologizes for the people who were lost but he says that the alien didn't respond to their warnings. The alien now admits that Omi was correct, he prepared to attack the Earth and he used his space Valketta to escape from the ship before it was destroyed. Omi says that the alien abandoned his family and friends but Alien Reguran blames Omi for being the same kind as him, and he says Omi's family was nothing more than a burden to him and it was easily replaced.
However, Rena defends her father and says that Omi is no coward like the alien and she is proud of being his daughter. Being triggered by the Yanase's words, Alien Reguran tries to kill them both but the GUTS arrives and rescues them in time. The alien then becomes a giant, Omi asks for one of GUTS Swing to fight with Rena, and Daigo transforms to Ultraman Tiga to fight.
With the help of Omi and Rena, Tiga destroys Alien Reguran with the Runboldt Beam Shell. In the end, Asamiya's helmet was placed on his memorial by Omi and Rena, they reconciles and Omi gives his daughter the lipstick she wanted on her birthday before returning to space.
