Noriyoshi Ikeya (池谷 仙克, Ikeya Noriyoshi) is a Japanese art director who has been involved in the art and character design for several television programs, including Tsuburaya Productions and Senkosha Productions.

Career[]

Ikeya was born in 1940 and, after graduating from Musashino Art University, was invited by his senior, Tohl Narita, to join Tsuburaya Productions. He took on various roles such as stage design, special art assistant, art direction, and mechanical design. In 1967, he was promoted to the art director for Ultraseven. From the episode 31 onward, he succeeded Narita as the Kaiju designer.

In the 1970s, he collaborated on multiple films and projects with Akio Jissoji, and periodically returned to Tsuburaya Productions to assist with character design. During this period, he served as the art director for Return of Ultraman in 1971, designing numerous Kaiju characters. However, he left the project after one season due to scheduling conflicts.

Death[]

On October 25, 2016, Ikeya passed away at the age of 76 due to cancer.[1]
