Nix Kanaya is the protagonist of Another Gene, a spin-off manga of Ultraman Geed.

Conception

Etymology

Nix's first name comes from the last three Katakana of the term Reionics, a race of beings who inherited Alien Reiblood's DNA and obtains the ability to command monsters through Battlenizers, with the young man being one of them as well. In addition, the kanji "Yoru" in his last name contrasts the "Asa" in Riku's family name, Asakura.

Design

As with all the characters of Another Gene, Nix is designed by Gurihiru.

History

Another Gene

Nix is a humanoid who was created by Kei Fukuide through his experimentation with Ultraman Belial's DNA. Whereas his "brother", Riku Asakura, was created purely from Belial's Ultraman side of DNA, Nix was created from the Reionics side. However, he was literally dumped like garbage by Fukuide after deeming the young boy a failure and unfit to join Belial's forces. The young Nix was discovered by Gai Kurenai, who encouraged him to live his life to the fullest even if he is bound to die in the future.

Through unknown means, Nix settled down in "ShOUT", an abandoned ramen shop as his personal living space while establishing the job of a "kaiju detective" , doing errands for AIB while receiving merchandise of his favorite show as payment.

NEW GENERATION THE LIVE -STARS Edition- TSUBURAYA CONVENTION 2023 SPECIAL STAGE

In the Ultraman Geed: Those Who Defy Destiny segment, Geed and Z faced Belial Atrocious, who was resurrected by an Alien Magma via a red Battlenizer, albeit compelled to act against his will. The Ultras found themselves overwhelmed by Belial's power until a mysterious party summoned Eleking to stun the dark Ultra for a brief moment, giving Geed the opportunity to turn into Ultimate Final and defeat his father again.

After the battle, the Ultras wondered who came to their rescue. Geed said that it must be someone who was also facing his destiny, and that he would like to meet him given the chance. Later, it is revealed by Zenna that the one who had helped them out was none other than a "kaiju detective", as a silhouette of Nix Kanaya flashes across the screen. ^{NEW GENERATION THE LIVE -STARS Edition- TSUBURAYA CONVENTION 2023 SPECIAL STAGE}

Powers and Weapons

• Monster Manipulation: As Nix was created purely from the Reionics half of Belial's DNA, he presumably has the ability to manipulate monsters to his liking.
• Nix Riser : Nix's own model of the Riser that Ultraman Hikari created, colored light blue and is already in his possession even after being dumped by Fukuide.
• Kaiju Capsules: Devices which allows him to summon monsters once scanned onto his Riser. As of now, his capsules are young monsters under his care, which he can choose to either remain in storage or deployed as personal companions.

Trivia

• Like Riku, Nix is also a fan of superheroes. In particular, his favorite media is "Armed Ninja", while Riku's is Don Shine.
• Nix's hair color is naturally blue, as seen from his flashback as a child.
• Given that his true progenitor, Alien Reiblood, is an alien, Nix's appearance as a young human may be a disguise. However, this has yet to be proven.
• Gurihiru tweeted that they were unaware of Nix and Philip appearing in the TSUBUCON 2023 stage show and were glad to see them, also drawing art of Philip retrieving Nix as mentioned in the show.
