Night Assault - Night Raid - (夜襲 - ナイトレイド -, Yashū - Naito Reido -) is the first episode of Ultraman Nexus.

Synopsis[]

In the not so distant future, alien creatures known as Space Beasts are threatening humanity. The organization TLT is formed to covertly combat these threats. Kazuki Komon became a rescue worker to help people, but a meeting with a mysterious gentlemen will lead to him becoming an officer for TLT. Unsure of what's happening to life, he is then confronted with a giant of light... Ultraman Nexus!

Plot[]

A man drove his van to a gas station to refuel, but was shocked to see that the pump had been filling his vehicle with far more gas than it should hold. The station attendant then checked under the van, where he found a strange ooze that was rapidly growing in size. Within seconds, the ooze grew into a creature and devoured him. Hearing the attendant's screams, the van's driver ran to check and was himself attacked. However, before he could be eaten, a mysterious energy blast struck the creature and drove it away.

The blob, a Space Beast named Pedoleon Kureain, fled into the night and down a street. More energy blasts hit the creature, driving it into a tunnel. Moments later, two vehicles uncloaked and landed, dispatching armed members of TLT who entered the tunnel. They pursued the creature and cornered it, quickly opening fire and killing it.

Trivia[]

  • According to producer Hiroyasu Shibuya, the focus of the first episode was to establish a serialized format distinct from the traditional Ultraman series. As a result, the plot primarily centers on dramatic development, with Ultraman only appearing briefly at the very end. While there were concerns and uncertainties about the limited screen time for the iconic hero, they decided to have Ultraman appear at a critical moment to emphasize his enormous and heroic presence, a decision that was understood and supported by those involved.[1]
  • This episode aired in the United States on TOKU on May 9, 2017.
