"Sit back and watch. The Ultraman you all rely on will lose to my Neomegas. And humanity will gain the power to protect Earth."
- ―Maki Shigenaga

Conception
Etymology
Neomegas' name comes from the Greek word Neo and letter Omega.
Design
Neomegas' suit is created by modifying the Grigio Raiden suit. Its source of inspiration is the Neosaurus from Ultraman Dyna, a Clone Monster who shares its design and color scheme, as well as the backstory of being created by a mad scientist by synthesizing cells through a cloning technology.[5] Since Sphere-Neomegas is already a spiky monster, director Tomonobu Koshi gets the idea of putting Spheresaurus' front legs to it. The arm blades used by Sphere-Neomegas was originally intended for the monster's original form, but Koshi manages to negotiate with the production team to bring it to the monster's infected form, feeling that the addition would be more justifiable if the Spheres are responsible for it.[6]
History
Pre-Ultraman Decker
Ten years ago, Sawa Kaizaki and her then-university professor Maki Shigenaga had discovered a corpse of a monster underground. Five years later when they were working in the TPU's Monster Research Department, Shigenaga researched into the monsters' source of vitality but in the course of her work, was overcome by fear of monster attacks triggered partially by the Eternity Core's fluctuations, the doing of the Giants of Darkness, and careless human developments, concluding that in order to ensure humanity's survival and continuous development, all monsters must eventually be exterminated or controlled completely. To this end, Shigenaga delved into cloning technology and the creation of controlled monster weapons. When Kaizaki found out what she was doing, she informed the higher ups, leading to Shigenaga's expulsion from the TPU. She went into hiding but managed to find sponsors to continue funding her research, promising them that monster weapons would help ensure the safety of humanity, convincing them by appeasing to the same fear of monsters that she once had.
In the present day, Shigenaga used the genetic material of the monster she and her former colleague once found and used her clone technology, infused with the cells of other monsters, to produce Neomegas, a monster weapon directly under her control.
Ultraman Decker
Some time after the Spheres invasion and the arrival of Ultraman Decker, Neomegas' development was completed. As a demonstration to her sponsors, Shigenaga sent the beast out to fight both Sadola and King Guesra, showing the monster weapon's effectiveness in battle as it defeated the two opponents before GUTS-Select could, before abruptly burrowing away. After some analysis on the rock samples it left behind, and observation of its behavior, Sawa had a feeling that Shigenaga was behind all this, and set off to find her with Kanata Asumi following, arriving at the same mountain cave where the original monster's corpse was found, now remodeled into Shigenaga's base where Neomegas was stored. After a confrontation between her and Sawa, Shigenaga chose to unleash Neomegas while Kanata transformed into Ultraman Decker. While the giants fought, Ichika Kirino and Soma Ryumon helped Sawa restrain Shigenaga and destroyed the pendant she used to control Neomegas. Unfortunately, not on did this make the monster go wild, it also removed the limiter on its power, giving Decker a hard time, blasting him away with its mouth beam. To help Decker, HANE2 used the GUTS Hawk to dock with Decker and take him to the sky. He changed into Strong Type and used his Dolnade Breaker on Neomegas to destroy it, even as he was bitten on the shoulder, resulting in Neomegas' destruction as it exploded and left behind one of its spikes.
After the event, Shigenaga was arrested by TPU officers while her unnamed sponsors are tracked down and had the data of Neomegas confiscated. Leftover cells of Neomegas were also salvaged to prevent any attempts at recreating Neomegas through cloning. Man and Monster However, some time later, the Spheres managed to assimilate the remaining spike into the newest Sphere Synthetic Monster[4], Sphere-Neomegas [1][2], and the TPU forces deployed at the site could do nothing to stop them. The monster then dug underground and tunneled away to avoid detection.
In the morning, Sphere-Neomegas reemerged near Sorafune City's spaceport where Spheresaurus once attacked a year ago. The GUTS Gryphon piloted by Kanata managed to blow off the monster's horn using the Hyper Thorn Laser, but Sphere Soldiers then emerged and undid the damage, while assisting in Sphere-Neomegas' assault. HANE2 then jettisoned Kanata from the GUTS Gryphon to allow him to change into Ultraman Decker, but he struggled against the already-powerful and now further enhanced monster. While protecting Ichika and Ryumon, Decker used his own body to shield them from Sphere-Neomegas' heat ray attack, and he was defeated. Sphere-Neomegas then used the remaining Sphere Soldiers to grow Spheresaurus' legs. Having been defeated, GUTS-Select chose to retreat and study the monster in order to prepare for their next attack. Their research revealed that instead of absorbing energy from the Earth, Sphere-Neomegas was instead using a network of root-like structures to pump energy into the Earth instead, which puzzled the team.
The next day, GUTS-Select and TPU forces assemble to attack Sphere-Neomegas with HANE2 piloting Terraphaser at its own suggestion after seeing Kanata, Ichika and Ryumon work hard to improve themselves after the previous day's loss. Their assault forced the monster to abandon its giant front legs in favor a pair of arm blades. Kanata transformed into Decker again when HANE2 took advantage of the falling robot to distract the others. Decker and Terraphaser battle the monster until the latter charges up the TR Mega Buster, with Decker defending HANE2 until it had finished. With one final attack, Sphere-Neomegas was completely destroyed and the operation was a success. Neomegas Strikes Back
Another Sphere-Neomegas appeared along with Sphere-Red King and Sphere-Gomora, having been restored by groups of coalescing Spheres, when Agams used the Terraphaser to call the Spheres to his side to prepare for the arrival of the Mother Spheresaurus. The three monsters easily trounced Decker until he barely managed to finish them off all at once using both the Ultra Dual Sword and Decker Shield Calibur. The Sky of Despair
Trivia
- Suit actors: Kenji Kajikawa (ep. 10, 12), Yuto Nagachi (ep. 23)
- Neomegas being presented as an 'alternative' to the Ultras by its creator is also reminiscent of the reasons why GAFJ constructed Ultroid Zero in Ultraman Z, as a means to defend humanity without the need for the Ultras to help them.
- Neomegas' roar is a modified Rodan roar mixed with Gakuma's, very similar to the original Neosaurus roars but not quite the same.
Data
- Stats[3]
- Height: 60 m
- Weight: 25,000 t
- Origin: Unnamed mountainous area
- Weakness: Neomegas' entire motion is controlled through Shigenaga's pendant, which links to a controller in its brain and act as a restrainer to keep its true power level at bay. Destroying it not only frees the monster, but also restoring its full power.
- Powers and Weapons
- Heat Ray: Neomegas can charge and unleash a beam of heat ray from its mouth.[1][2] Prior to doing so, it charges energy through the crystal-like organs from its chest.[3]
- Fangs: Neomegas' fangs, they are strong enough to bite/grab the Ultra Dual Sword with little to no harm,[1] and bite through Ultraman Decker's Ultra Armor.
- Claws: In close combat, Neomegas can use its claws to scratch through its opponents.[1]
- Armored Hide: Neomegas' body is protected by a durable hide which grants protection from even the Ultra Dual Sword.
- Burrowing: Neomegas can burrow itself underground as a form of travel.
- Strength: Neomegas is physically strong enough to overwhelm other monsters and go toe to toe with Ultraman Decker.
- Agility: After Shigenaga's pendant was destroyed and its limiter removed, Neomegas gains surprising speed and agility which easily overwhelmed Ultraman Decker.
- Stats[3]
- Height: 65 m
- Weight: 30,000 t
- Origin: Unnamed mountainous area
- Powers and Weapons[3]
- Armored Hide: From its original self, Sphere-Neomegas retains its durable hide that protects it from normal attacks. In an example, the monster is able to resist GUTS Gryphon's Hyper Thorn Laser with only losing its horn while emerging unscathed.
- Strength: While already a brutish monster, influences from the Sphere enhances Neomegas with increased brute strength.[4]
- Heat Ray: Sphere-Neomegas can charge and unleash a beam of heat ray from its mouth.[4] In this case, the assimilation with the Spheres enhances its attack with their shockwave powers, which is strong enough to force an Ultra to the point of cancelling his transformation.
- Sphere Empowerment: An interesting trait that stands out among other monsters of its kin, Sphere-Neomegas can empower itself with the Sphere Soldiers merging with its arms into other forms of anatomy. This is not a full assimilation, as the monster will lose its enhanced parts if the Sphere Soldiers choose to split from it.
- Front Legs: Resembling Spheresaurus, Sphere-Neomegas' hands turn into a pair of giant front legs with which it can emit roots that claw its way underground and inject a special form of energy.
- Arm Blades: Due to the Sphere's alteration, Neomegas' hands are traded with a pair of blades formed by the Spheres' essence. These weapons act similar to its original claws by scratching the opponent in close proximity and can further enhance its slicing power through its own energy.
- Neomega-Sphere Rage : Sphere-Neomegas surrounds itself with the Sphere Soldiers, who proceed to salvo fire on its target.
