Naban Yao

Naban Yao (ヤオ・ナバン, Yao Naban) is one of the supporting characters of Ultraman Tiga. He developed the Maxima Overdrive system and the Artdessei.

Personality[]

Yao presents a rather cautious and weak personality to the outside world and communicates with the top management of GUTS and TPC with a steady attitude. However, when it comes to his area of expertise, he reveals a passionate side.

History[]

Ultraman Tiga[]

Yao is a member of the TPC Science Research Bureau and one of the organization's most outstanding scientists during its founding period. He chose to become a scientist to realize his childhood dream and spent 20 years designing the Artdessei. He also developed the ship's main engine, the Maxima Overdrive. He named the GUTS Wing Tester machine "Snow White." ^{GUTS to the Sky Part 1}

However, due to the lack of consideration for side effects during Snow White's experiments Rena, the pilot, experienced headaches. Even when criticized by Horii, Yao was too weak to respond appropriately, which led to misunderstandings among other GUTS members. However, because he held a pure belief in his dream, his relationship with the GUTS gradually improved after the Artdessei was put into use. ^{GUTS to the Sky Part 2}

During the Gatanothor incident, when the darkness of Gatanothor reached the base, Yao then watched the battle between Tiga and Gatanothor, and ultimately witnessed Tiga's defeat. It was only after hearing from Rena that Daigo was Tiga that he learned the truth. Later, he participated in the campaign to revive Tiga by using the light gene converter to transfer light to Daigo.^{Master of Darkness}

Ultraman Tiga: The Final Odyssey[]

During the GUTS expedition to R'lyeh, he, as a member of the Artdessei support team, helped the team take off. He was wearing a pair of glasses at that time. ^{Ultraman Tiga: The Final Odyssey}

Ultraman Dyna[]

Although he did not appear in the series, Yao was later involved in the construction of Clarkov NF-3000 and the development plan of Prometheus. However, due to differences in development policies, he announced his withdrawal from the space battleship development team's project.
