Maquette Capsules (マケットカプセル, Maketto Kapuseru) are capsules that contain the data of Maquette Monsters in Ultraman Mebius.[1] These capsules can either be installed to a GUYS Memory Display to summon them in battle or connected to the GUYS Tough Book to review and/or customize them with past monster attributes.

Being created under the METEOR banner, the Maquette Capsules function similarly to Dan Moroboshi/Ultraseven's Capsule Kaiju.

History[]

Ultraman Mebius[]

Created by GUYS' general headquarters; accumulated data of past monsters are reproduced through the usage of Maquette particles. The first capsule to be deployed was Miclas, later on followed by Windom. The two would later be upgraded at some point in the series. Despite having to rely on the arrival of Ultraman Mebius to finish off the monster and alien threats, Miclas and Windom's activities did not go unnoticed and were highly evaluated for their key roles in GUYS' success in their operation.

Due to their track record, GUYS general headquarters would later assign Juukichi Toriyama with a briefcase of Proto Maquette Monsters (プロトマケット怪獣, Puroto Maketto Kaijū). With the help of Crew GUYS, they evaluated each capsule to the point of using live simulation, but the malfunction from Zetton's capsule turned the Proto Maquette Monster into a threat to the cyberspace of the base until the timely intervention of Ultraman Mebius. Windom and Miclas helped the Ultra destroy the rogue program. With the evaluation ended, the Proto Maquette Monsters were shelved in favor of Miclas and Windom's continued service. Champion of the Fierce Fight

After the fight against Alien Empera ended and most of Crew GUYS went their separate ways, Miclas and Windom continued to be in service of GUYS, now under Ryu's leadership with new team members. They were deployed in fighting against past monsters resurrected by Armored Darkness.

Ultraman Mebius: Anderes Horizont[]

Seven's third Capsule Monster, Agira, was originally left unmentioned in the live action series. The novel however gave Agira its brief passing in mention as its capsule actually existed and approved for practical use. Ultraman Mebius: Anderes Horizont

Nature[]

The Maquette Monsters (マケット怪獣, Maketto Kaiju) are artificial copies of preexisting monsters from the data of past defense teams. They are created by assembling the Maquette (マケット, Maketto) particles to form the monster based on the Maquette Capsule. As with all METEOR equipment, utilizing a Maquette Capsule/Monster required permission from a high-ranking officer due to their Over Technology nature requiring proper supervision upon usage. Once the 1 minute time limit ended, the Maquette Monster dissipated as the Maquette Capsule had to be recharged for 1 hour before it could be reused again. Because of their "non-living" nature, a Maquette Monster could be upgraded by incorporating elements/data of past Ultra Kaiju to add to their powers. Whereas Miclas in particular lacked physical changes upon transforming into Eleki Miclas, Windom gained an arm cannon and a red crest upon being upgraded into Fire Windom. Being military-grade equipment, Maquette Capsules cannot be taken outside of Phoenix Nest when off-duty unless a permission was given from high ranking officials. Marina of the Wind

While essentially the Maquette Monsters are not alive in a sense, they acted and performed simulations based on their original templates. Examples include Miclas in particular being a coward in its first fight and initially rejecting Eleking's data due to the template's trauma of being defeated by the eel monster, resulting in said data forming Lim Eleking.

Though unintended, a Maquette Monster can also exist outside the capsule. The incident from Miclas rejecting Eleking's data resulted in it materializing through the leftover Maquette particles to form Lim Eleking. The monster appeared occasionally while still adhering to its short time limit before disappearing, hence each Lim Eleking are different instances. Nevertheless, Konomi was accepting to the little monster as additional member of Crew GUYS, adopting it as their mascot.

The saucer monster Nova also took advantage of this by siphoning the Maquette particles to create its own clone, known as Maquette Nova. Its short-lived nature allowed Nova to use it as brief distraction for Mebius so it could attack Phoenix Nest the moment when said Ultra's energy was mostly exhausted. Maquette Nova's existence also meant that it prevented Lim Eleking from spawning as well, something that Konomi realized too late.

Known existing Maquette Capsules[]

Proto Maquette Monsters[]

The Maquette Capsules for Proto Maquette Monsters were only for evaluation purposes and each had been rejected by Crew GUYS for different reasons.

  • Birdon: Its ability to inject poison made it hazardous to the environment.
  • Gudon: While acknowledged as a proficient fighter, Gudon was rejected due to its burrowing ability not being useful with its 1 minute time limit.
  • Twin Tail: While acknowledged as a proficient fighter underwater, its notoriously inept reputation on land (especially for being Gudon's prey) meant that it would only be as good as dead in most situations.
  • Bemstar: Actually successful, but Marina Kazama's trauma of almost being eaten by Bemstar forced Crew GUYS to reject it.
  • Eleking: Not evaluated, but nevertheless rejected alongside its fellow batch of Proto Maquette Monsters.
  • Ultraman Mebius: A clone of the original Ultra, it was rejected by Shingo Sakomizu due to the discomfort it brought to Mirai. Mebius' defeat by Zetton (a fellow Proto Maquette Monster) doesn't help in supporting for its greenlight either.
  • Zetton: Zetton's rampage in the cyberspace and threatening Phoenix Nest's data as a result of Toriyama accidentally dropping the capsule.

Rogue Maquette Monsters[]

This list refers to Maquette Monsters created from unintended consequences.

  • Lim Eleking: Created from the rejected Eleking data merging with the Maquette particles.
  • Maquette Nova: Created by Nova from siphoning the Maquette particles from Phoenix Nest.

Trivia[]

  • As per the notion of METEOR equipment, its source of inspiration are said to be items of extraterrestrial origin. The reason why Miclas and Windom are said to be Maquette Capsules/Monsters' source of inspiration is due to no actual data of the Capsule Kaiju technology ever really being documented from an in-universe perspective.
  • In episode 27, when Crew GUYS fight amongst themselves over who gets to choose Zetton, Ryu Aihara proclaims that George Ikaruga should have picked Alien Icarus as his Maquette Monster instead, due to his family name "Ikaruga" sounding similar to the alien. Whether Icarus was amongst the Proto Maquette Monsters in the briefcase or Ryu was just being sarcastic is unknown, but an Alien Icarus do exist as a real life product for Maquette Capsule.
