"The original purpose for METEOR, was for we humanity to use it..."
"...to answer Ultramen's heart. Indeed, it was made for this day!"
- ―Misaki and Sakomizu, Words from the Heart -Final Trilogy III-
METEOR GUYS that are not of human standards. Due to this, extreme precaution is taken when handling these devices, as it requires permission from high ranking officials prior to actual usage in the combat field.
, short for Much Extreme Technology of Extraterrestrial ORigin, is a series of equipment used byConception
Etymology
METEOR is named after meteoroid, as well as the Greek word meteōros, meaning "high in the air". Like the METEOR equipment in Ultraman Mebius, mankind has also benefitted the use of meteorite in real life, going as far as the 3200 BC in Ancient Egypt as components for their everyday tools.
As stated in the fifth volume of the Ultra Tokusatsu PERFECT MOOK magazine, METEOR was meant to be named as SATAN , but was changed as the name was considered ominous, as well as the fact that it also incorporated technologies from benevolent origin (the Ultras) other than just alien invaders that the past defense team had fought over the years.
History
Pre-Ultraman Mebius
Formerly known as Over-Technology, with the studies and reverse-engineering of extraterrestrial technologies as well as usage of alien minerals already existed in the Showa era as the foundation, many scientists, including SSSP's Mitsuhiro Ide and TAC's Yoichi Kaji, successfully set up milestones that led to the matured METEOR.
However, a major technological downgrade occurred after the destruction of MAC. Many Over-Technologies were lost with it, leaving little for UGM.[1]
Ultraman Mebius
Much of the METEOR technology had been researched and reverse engineered through past defense teams' encounter with alien invaders, as well as benevolent visitors like the Ultra Warriors. The term METEOR was coined and prominently utilized during the Crew GUYS era, either through their handheld weapons or fighter vehicles against the resurging monster attacks. In spite of their many successful records, there had been instances where attempts at utilizing them ended in failure or disastrous. One such attempt was the cells of Alien Grotes to turn inanimate objects sentient, through his past invasion attempt via Kodaigon. While trying to send the cells for proper disposal, Toriyama accidentally spilled some and a series of accidents caused an Ebisu statue to turn into another Kodaigon. On the side of Ultra Warriors, they benefited from mimicing Capsule Monster technology, the use of Spacium as ammo and Seven's Magnerium formula.
In the final battle against Alien Empera, Sakomizu unveils the final METEOR technology, the Spacium Redoublizer. This was made in mind to support the Ultra Warriors in the event of a catastrophic situation where both humans and the Ultras were in trouble. Sure enough, it empowered Mebius Phoenix Brave's Mebium-Knight Shoot and Zoffy's M87 Beam before the former destroys it through Mebium Phoenix.
Ultraman Mebius: Anderes Horizont
A novel which depicted an alternate scenario of the series, the METEOR terminology is disputed amongst Crew GUYS as to which technology was the first to exist. Several members agreed that the Mars 133 used against Alien Baltan II is the first METEOR, but Araiso argued that the Magma Riser used by Ultra Guard is the first recorded use of METEOR, as it was built through the study of Alien Pegassa's bomb and is also mass produced safely. One surviving model (as the main vehicle was lost in the war against Alien Ghose) was discovered in pristine condition and had its technology researched to create the GUYS Spindler drilling tank. Ultraman Mebius: Anderes Horizont
Ultraman F
In a novel depicting an alternate continuity set after Ultraman, the METEOR terminology is founded as early as 1967. It is used to describe Alien Ruperts' Ultra Armor and the Balloonga Aegis used by the novel's titular Ultra. Ultraman F (novel)

Trivia
- Fitting that since Ide was the one to create the Mars 133 (retroactively being the first METEOR), it was his Ultraman F incarnation that came up with the METEOR terminology in-universe.
- The Daidara Mecha in Chou Toshi Gekiden manga functions in a similar manner to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber from the Dragonball franchise. Just like the Z Fighters train to prepare for the Cell Games, so as the Ultra Brothers.
