Trivia[]
- This is one of the rare episodes in the Ultraman Series to not feature an enemy monster or alien, with the Grakyess only appearing on-screen for a few seconds.
- Thus, this is also the first episode of Ultraseven X not to feature Seven outside of flashbacks.
- According to screenwriter Yuji Kobayashi:[1]
- While writing episode 1, Kobayashi began planning the final three episodes. While Takeshi Yagi was filming episodes one and two, Kobayashi started drafting the trilogy's scripts. After discussing his impressions of the first two episodes with Yagi, Kobayashi added new ideas, such as strengthening the relationship between K and S and revealing that the Ruler had offensive abilities.
- Initially, the finale was planned to be an extended battle sequence. The original script included scenes of K and S fighting a swarm of smaller Grakyess inside a facility. However, CG director Tetsuji Hayakawa suggested reducing the amount of CG to improve the finale's overall quality, so the script was revised accordingly.
- Several elements of the script were inspired by ideas proposed by director Kazuya Konaka. The early sequence in which Jin investigates using footage left by Haibara was influenced by the 1974 series Kolchak: The Night Stalker. The idea that Haibara and Saki might have been romantically involved became clearer through multiple script revisions.
- An early draft included a scene of Haibara finding the entrance to a mysterious underground passage. This scene was intended to foreshadow the Gryphon's nest, but it was cut due to time constraints.
- Due to the limited number of suits available for the 12-episode series, Seven X was not scheduled to appear in episodes 10 and 11.
- Saki's character is similar to Ali, the character who appeared in "Nightmare of Planet No. 4."
- The spin-off story "GOD PALACE", featuring Saki, is included in the novelization of Ultraseven X.
