Leviera [1][2][3][4] is a Kaiju who first appeared in the fourth episode of Ultraman Blazar.
Subtitle: Molluscan Kaiju [1][2][3][4]
Conception
Design
Leviera was designed by character designer Tomo Hyakutake at the request of director Takanori Tsujimoto.[5][6] Leviera's design appears to be based on the marine mollusks Clionidae, a family of sea angels.
History
Ultraman Blazar
Twenty years ago, classified documents and cell samples of an extraterrestrial amorphous organism, which arrived on Earth attached to a meteorite and found to have strong regenerative capabilities, were stolen by former GGFJ Chemical Department researcher Hiroshi Sonezaki, who seized the opportunity during the confusion that arose from the GGF's digital transition. In 2005, Sonezaki established the chemical company Novaio after he left the GGF, and would later synthesize these cell samples and artificial Clionidae (sea angels) that were artificially enhanced to eradicate harmful fish[2] by a second-tier subsidiary of Novaio to cultivate a new and more aggressive lifeform, the strongest man-made sea angel he dubbed "Leviera". By genetically modifying Leviera to react adversely to the Novaio company's new sterilizing antimicrobial agent FK1, Sonezaki put his plans into action.
Publicly, Leviera was first sighted at a container port before retreating due to exposure to FK1, in what appeared to be pure coincidence. Over the next three months, Leviera would sporadically reappear across the city in at least eight confirmed sightings, and the GGFJ would acquire provisions of FK1 from the Novaio corporation to temporarily repel the kaiju in what appeared to be an endless cycle. However, Leviera's developing resistance to the antimicrobial meant that they had to increase their dosage to fight the monster, and because there was no known way of neutralizing Leviera, this became a pressing concern.
The SKaRD soon grew suspicious of Novaio's connections with the kaiju, and dispatched Emi Aobe, who assumed the identity of a new secretary, to closely monitor Sonezaki's activities in an undercover investigation. In the same week, Leviera reappeared and faced Earth Garon, whose newly equipped FK1 ampule rounds had almost no effect because of Leviera's near-immunity to the antimicrobial.
Emi was convinced to investigate further after Leviera's samples matched that of Novaio's sea angels, but was caught in the act by Sonezaki and brought to the company's underground cultivation dome where Leviera always returned after melting into the ground. Acknowledging that the Leviera attacks were all a part of his plan, Sonezaki revealed countless other smaller Levieras in stasis, but he was interrupted by Gento Hiruma, who assisted Emi against Sonezaki's men. A stray bullet that hit a switchboard awakened Leviera, but the Blazar Brace appeared to Gento and he transformed into Ultraman Blazar.
Blazar and Leviera squared off against each other, and the fight was evenly matched until the kaiju liquified and reappeared in different locations, confusing Blazar until the Ultra was toppled into the Novaio headquarters from a direct hit by Leviera's beam. Ensnared in its radula, Blazar struggled helplessly until the timely arrival of Earth Garon freed him. Using Emi's advice, Earth Garon threw a nearby liquid nitrogen tank at Leviera, and the subzero temperatures immobilized the kaiju, finally giving Blazar the chance to destroy it with the Fork Burrade. Thus Fought Emi
It was later revealed that Alien Cannan Herbie observed Earth Garon's fight with Leviera, deciding then to use it to take over Earth. The Invading Aurora
Leviera would later reappear as a wandering spirit at the former site of the Novaio Corporation before being vanquished by Zangill. The Wandering Zangill
Trivia
- Suit actor: Kenji Kajikawa
- Leviera emits a sped-up Guesra roar before liquifying after being hit by Earth Garon, as well before freezing from the liquid nitrogen.
- In February 2023, the name Reinas Tsuburaya Productions among all the other kaiju that would appear in Ultraman Blazar.[7] In a behind-the-scenes interview, this was eventually revealed to be Leviera's original name.[8] was trademarked by
Data
- Stats
- Height: 0 ~ 55 m
- Weight: 0 ~ 30,000 t
- Origin: Novaio Company
- Weaknesses:
- The antimicrobial FK1 acts as a temporary repellent to Leviera, reverting it to its liquid form and driving it to flee. However, Leviera's resistance gradually strengthens over time, thus requiring stronger doses.
- Freezing Leviera at subzero temperatures (e.g., through the use of liquid nitrogen) can suspend its metabolic activity and hence its regenerative abilities, preventing Leviera from turning to its amoeba-like state.
- Powers and Weapons
- Regeneration: Leviera has impressive regenerative abilities and can instantly regenerate wounded body parts without ill effect.
- Liquification: Leviera can freely liquify its body into a viscous white slime in an amoeba-like state[3] to move to other locations or dodge incoming attacks.
- Homing Instinct: Leviera always appears to return to the underground facility of the Novaio corporation after retreating.
- Beam: An orange beam fired from its flower bud-like head.
