Kenichi Mitarai [1] , is a character in Mirrorman. He is a renowned scientist, the founder of SGM (Science Guard Members) and the man who raised Kyotaro Kagami after the death of his father and disappearance of his mother.

Dr. Mitarai is a serious and driven leader devoted to protecting the earth scientifically. He sees himself as responsible for Kyotaro as Mirrorman, and often forbids him from acting independently.

Dr. Mitarai made contact with aliens, both people from the second dimension and the Invaders, and was made aware of the Invaders' plans to conquer Earth. He predicted the Invaders' attack and established SGM as a preventative measure. He also allied himself with Kyotaro's father, the original Mirrorman, who came to earth to defend it. When Kyotaro's father was killed by King Zaiger, he encouraged his mother to go into hiding while he raised Kyotaro so that the Invaders would not be able to target them. Defeat King Zaiger! Kyotaro was raised by Mitarai without meeting his parents again. When the Invaders attacked in the 1980s, Mitarai informed Kyotaro of his identity and responsibility to defend the earth. When Kyotaro first asks to join SGM, Dr. Mitarai denies him because he lacks the spiritual strength and reliance on others required for the job. The Flute Playing Witch

After a car exploded, Mitarai and the rest of SGM arrived to investigate the scene. Kyotaro, having witnessed the event, informed the team what happened, meeting Mitarai and the others for the first time.
