Ultra Q: Dark Fantasy[]

Wakarai is a professor at the Faculty of Engineering at Teito University, and he is an authority in the field of applied physics. Not only does he excel in scientific explanations, but he also possesses profound knowledge in areas beyond scientific boundaries, such as heritage and mysticism. His personality is unique and elegant, sometimes appearing a bit unconventional, making him somewhat enigmatic.

He was once the teacher of Goichi Sakamoto and Ryo Kusunoki. Whenever mysterious incidents occurred throughout Japan, he often used monster extermination as an excuse to cancel university courses or seminars and worked with them to resolve the mysterious events.

It is said that he was also the final student of Professor Taro Magara at the Imperial Teito University. Legend has it that Magara was exiled from the academic community due to his research on the "anti-permanent mechanism that converts human thought into a force field and sets it in motion". Hence, some of his eccentricities may have been influenced by his teacher.Hitogata

When Garagon emerged from the meteorite near the Tokyo Tower, Wakarai informed the defense team upon detecting readings of titanium silicon from Garagon, indicating its indestructible body. Later, in his office, he disclosed to Goichi and Ryo that in Japan's past, there had been Garagons controlled by electronic brains, which were ultimately defeated. He speculated that the current Garagon might also be under someone's control.

Upon realizing that Garagon was actually controlling all the Gara Q through its own electronic brain, Wakarai invented a special powder and instructed the defense team to throw it onto Garagon to block its electromagnetic waves, ultimately leading to Garagon's disintegration.Dancing Garagon

When Garagon's invasion plan was thwarted, Cicada Woman decided to seek revenge against Watarai and others. While Watarai was repairing Ryo's Gara Q and conducting analysis, Cicada Woman put the professor to sleep and took control of the Gara Q, causing it to infiltrate government servers and transfer funds from banks to Watarai's account, thus tarnishing his reputation. Subsequently, she kidnapped Watarai to an abandoned building and strapped a timed bomb around his neck.

However, after Gara Q futilely attempted to protect the trio from Cicada Woman, Watarai was rescued by Goichi and Ryo, and the three escaped the building. Cicada Woman then summoned Garagon II and ordered it to eliminate them. Determined to save them, Gara Q began playing its song and extended a satellite antenna from its head, reflecting Garagon II's lasers back at the monster and its master, simultaneously destroying them both. The timed bomb on Watarai was also disarmed by Gara Q. Upon returning to the office, the professor repaired Gara Q once again.Dancing Garagon

In a lecture on "Multiverse and Quantum Brain Theory", Watarai calmly discussed a formula that could potentially destroy the world, known as the "Watarai Equation". This equation, capable of causing the world to split and collapse with just a quantum vibration of a droplet of water, was deemed too perilous. He also introduced a concept akin to quantum mechanics, illustrating how the world exists only within the brains of observers, fluctuating with the waves of the mind.

However, due to the course's highly original nature, the number of students attending gradually dwindled, leaving only two: Mitsuo Yoshiyasu and Sora Otomura. Yoshiyasu became engrossed in finding his place, focusing on studying the "365 Degree World" that exists solely in quantum mechanics, while Otomura lost herself due to the discrepancy between her and the everyday world.

One day, Yoshiyasu was absent from the class. Seemingly avoiding contact with others, he set up a tent in the park to continue his research on the "Rainbow Wave Device" he had developed, and then he left this world and entered another. Meanwhile, Otomura, by chance, entered a different world from Yoshiyasu's, the "365 Degree World," which she had been searching for all along.

As Otomura progressed toward the end of the world, she saw memories from her childhood floating on the beach, memories of her family and friends flooding back to her. With a tear streaming down her cheek, the "Rainbow Wave Device" was activated, allowing her to return to the original world. Upon hearing Otomura's report, Watarai smiled and said he had two outstanding students this semester.Alice in the 365 Degree World

With the advent of the digital age, the towering Second Tokyo Tower, reaching a height of 666 meters, was completed. However, staff from the Radio Wave Supervisory Agency detected abnormal electromagnetic waves emanating from it. Meanwhile, strange incidents were occurring across various locations. This prompted Watarai's team to commence an investigation. However, the Lecuum also targeted the manga artist Sasayama. This resulted in Sasayama leaving behind only the draft of "The Door to the Nothingness".

When Watarai's team read the draft, they discovered that it almost completely described all the current events, ending with a scene of three people reading the draft. In other words, the Lecuum planned according to Sasayama's manga, seizing his imagination before the manga's completion and then transporting them into subspace. The key to resolving this issue was to have Sasayama complete his work.

As the Lecuum advanced towards the Second Tokyo Tower, Sasayama, who had escaped from subspace, began creating manga. Since the Lecuum's entities were generated by electromagnetic waves, Watarai proposed "to combat waves with electricity" and emitted waves through the Radio Wave Supervisory Agency. Although the Lecuum destroyed the Second Tokyo Tower, they dissolved and disappeared upon being irradiated by the close-range electrical waves. Watarai and Ryo rejoiced at the success of their operation and comforted the president, who was weeping over the destruction of the Second Tokyo Tower. The Door to the Nothingness
