"Stand up, Komon! You have stood up from despair many times before. That's why I keep fighting!"

―Himeya's words when Komon, as Nexus, battling Zagi.

Jun Himeya (姫矢 准, Himeya Jun) is the second Dunamist. He inherited the power of the Light after it had left Maki.

History[]

Pre-Ultraman Nexus[]

An individual who had a passion for photography, Jun had one lifelong mantra – to lay his life on the line for the sake of exchanging it for something else worthwhile. As a photo journalist, Himeya specialized in war photographs. During an assignment in a war-conflicted country, he was gravely wounded and subsequently treated by an orphan named Sera in a remote village.

Sera, Himeya's deceased ward

During his recovery the two would bond under her care. While healing, Himeya would come to aid Sera's livelihood through chores such as carrying water to the village. With the loss of her family due to the war, Himeya would play a role akin to that of a father/brother figure to her and began to see her as a sort of daughter/little sister. Tragically, Sera would be caught up in the crossfire of a warzone Himeya had placed himself in and as a result, killed in an explosion as she rushed towards him. Distraught, Himeya returned home full of regret. As a fate of cruel irony, the collage of pictures he gathered, specifically the battlefield that claimed Sera's life catapulted him to fame, paining him greatly.

The culmination of both his newfound fame by the newspaper firm & his wartime experiences turned his passionate self into a jaded, brooding individual who felt contempt in himself, loathing his existence and that anyone who would form a bond with him would face imminent death. His time with his publishing firm and former colleagues like Jinzo Negoro would lead him to be skeptical of trusting institutions' intentions such as the TLT.

Following this, he would leave the newspaper publisher he worked for and fell into a drunken stupor for the guilt he felt in playing a part in Sera's death. It was at this time he had recurring dreams of following Sera through the jungle to strange ruins. At the end of one such dream Himeya encountered the Light. Perceiving it as penance for the mistakes he was unable to correct in the past, he would use the power of the Light to protect humanity and battle those who would come to threaten the security of their future.

Ultraman Nexus[]

Willing to sacrifice his life as a means to protect, his battle would begin in the form of Galberos being summoned by the Dark Field G when his assimilation with Nexus became one. Ruins - Relic -

Despite being first seen as an enigmatic figure by most of the Night Raiders and a Space Beast by one, rookie Kazuki Komon believed otherwise, having been saved by him on his trip to Fortress Freedom. Given that Komon was the first Raider to encounter Jun as well as the first civilian he saved from a Space Beast, he eventually struck some form of kinship with Komon, rescuing him from danger a few times and Komon began to investigate Himeya's past after making contact with Stone Fluegel. Komon also kept Himeya's identity as Nexus secret from his superiors and often butted heads with his immediate superior Nagi Saijyo over the issue of whether Nexus was an ally or threat to the human race, especially after the Chrome Chesters were indirectly responsible in wounding Himeya while fighting a Bugbuzun.Chosen One - Dunamist -

Faust Appears

Faust's first appearance

Jun quickly found other enemies besides the Space Beasts and TLT when he encountered an entity that claimed to manifest as the shadow to his Light, the dark Ultra Faust.Devil - Faust - As a being bearing inverse powers to his, Faust proved to be a lethal adversary to Himeya especially given her ability to taint his Meta Field manipulation by corrupting it into the Dark Field and leaving him vulnerable in their battles. Himeya and her battled on several occasions, with Faust showing command or at least camaraderie with the Space Beasts. Despite most of his battles in the Dark Field ending in a defeat, Himeya managed to hold his own by wounding her time and time again; forcing her retreats. This would carry on until their last battle. There with Komon, who had been saved from the influence of a Beast, they discovered the Faust's true identity – Riko Saida, Komon's girlfriend.

Overpowered by Faust

It would be revealed that through means, the ex-deputy captain of the Night Raiders, Shinya Mizorogi, like his master, had forsaw Komon's recruitment into the Night Raiders, and had Riko killed six months prior and resurrected as a puppet as a part of Mizorogi's game. Faust and Nexus battled one last time, with Himeya having his energy sapped by the dark Ultra. Komon, somehow having been taken into the Dark Field, managed to interfered with the energy drain which momentarily pulled Riko's persona as the dominant subconscious of her dark Ultra's identity, pausing the power drainage she had over Himeya. With some brief solace came shock as Mizorogi summoned Nosferu to kill Komon, but he was shielded by Riko, taking a fatal blunt of the attack. Though Himeya would cover for her by killing the Beast, there was nothing he could do for Komon as he clutched his girlfriend in his hands as she died, turning into particles of light.Separation - Lost Soul -

After his battles with Faust and Lafleya, TLT had decided that Ultraman was not a threat to mankind and ceased targeting him. Despite this good news a new problem arose after the end of Faust, her master who harbored a dark Ultra power of his own, had turned to target Komon, intending to turn him into another puppet for his amusement to taunt Nagi. Having Komon grieving over Riko's death only allowed for Mizorogi to push his agenda even easier. Despite Himeya's interference with trying to reel Komon out of the darkness it was ultimately Komon's own memories of Riko and determination that allowed him to expel the darkness Mizorogi had placed over him, reuniting with his Night Raider companions and Himeya in perishing the regenerating Nosferu.

In the Dark Field

While Mizorogi's plan failed with Komon, he had almost succeeded in pulling his former lover Nagi, towards him. Nearing his tenure as a Dunamist would be in a warehouse where Himeya would reveal his identity to Captain Eisuke Wakura, and promptly changed into Nexus to deal with a second Galberos despite his disadvantage in the Dark Field. This would directly push Nagi to revolt against Mizorogi's temptations and shoot him. Through his battle Himeya would be wounded in his left arm by Galberos and left the warehouse in agony. Confronted by an armed Nagi, Captain Wakura managed to ease tensions by explaining his faith in Nexus and Himeya, prompting him to join TLT, only to be refused by Himeya.

While not achieving a terrific friendship with Nagi throughout his tenure as Nexus, following the intervention of Captain Wakura would Nagi finally manage to set aside her views on Himeya and come to be more receptive to him as an ally rather than a foe, such as warning the Memory Police's pending arrival.

During his time as Nexus, Himeya would still lament his failures in saving other civilians despite being grievously hurt, particularly a young girl coincidentally named Riko, who was trapped in Nosferu's forehead; forcing Himeya not to interfere out for her safetyDemon - Mephisto -. Another notable example would be an amateur photographer who idolized his prior work with his newspaper agency, as he was eaten by Golgolem. Critical Attack - Cross Phase Trap -

After a revived Galberos and Golgolem continuously wounded him in his left arm, Himeya struggle to call upon the aid of Stone Fluegel, resulting in his capture at the hands of of TLT. Suffering - Sacrifice -

Under TLT's custody, Director Matsunaga performed experiments on him, seeking the Light behind his Dunamist power. During his apprehension, he managed to converse with the Illustrator telepathically, seeking to understand his drive to fight his relentless cycle of fighting. Through prolonged exposure of the Beast Oscillation Radiation emitter at the behest of TLT technicians, resulted in Himeya's death. At the Illustrator's advice, they used the same energy signature Jun used to transform. The emitter's second exposure allowed for the Evoltruster to pick up his host's endangerment, alerting the Light to resurrect Himeya much like his predecessor 4 years prior. The Light teleported him away and help bring him out of harm's way. Before leaving the base he met Komon and a hologram of Illustrator who stressed his body may not withhold the transformation process and may end his life again. Jun left, being nursed under the care of Megumi Sakuta, his old colleague from his former career.

Soon after, the Beast Kutuura appeared, and Jun chose to keep fighting despite the Illustrator's warnings that his body had reached its limit. Nexus battled but lost to Kutuura, requiring the aid of the Night Raiders to save him. As the Beast resumed its killing spree, Himeya swiftly dove into one of its portals after saving Negoro, and made his way to the Land of the Dead. It was there he found Sakuta in the clutches of Mizorogi as his hostage. He also found the Beast waiting for him. Despite overpowering the creature at first, Himeya's injuries proved too dire, collapsing as he fell unconscious. Soon after, the Night Raiders made their way to the Land of the Dead after deciphering Mizorogi's hints. Outfitted with a new weapon despite their disagreements with how it was obtained, the experimentation on him allowed for TLT to reconfigure the particles that made up the energy waves that Nexus ran on into a new weapon for the Chrome Chesters - the Ultimate Vanisher, a weaponized version of Nexus' Over-Ray Schtrom beam. Upon arriving they were shocked to see Himeya's crucifixion, having being covered by black ivies as the darkness tried to absorb his light and lifeforce for Mizorogi to steal. Although they were caught offguard the Raiders battled Kutuura and ended him with their new weapon.

Sera's apparition revealing the true nature of the Light to Jun

Before he was entirely engulfed by the consuming darkness, Himeya saw an apparition of Sera one last time, who revealed to the true nature of the Light was for a greater purpose; having been passed down from being to being, desperately fighting to protect those important to them. But by misinterpreting the inheritance of the Light, Jun, saw it as his means for redemption after his failed attempts to save people. Armed with a newfound strength to protect the Light and all it stood for, Himeya broke free of the ivies. Despite this notable moment, a weakened Himeya was still at the mercy of Mephisto. Komon, in his Chester, managed to restore his energy by firing their last Ultimate Vanisher shot straight into his Energy Core.

Nexus BeamClash

Nexus and Mephisto's final battle

Recharged and restored to full strength, Himeya changed into Junis to battle Mephisto at full strength. After saving Sakuta from Mephisto's attempt on her life, Jun flew towards Mizorogi and punched the black sphere he was creating, overloading it with energy, with the resulting outcome imploding with both giants in it, apparently eviscerating both Himeya and Mizorogi within it. Before Jun disappeared, he appeared to Komon one last time, explaining to him the true nature of the Light - 'the light is a bond, and someone would inherit it so as to let it shine again'. Both giants' human hosts are from this point declared to be deceased.

His farewell words to Komon were that 'the Light is a bond', and that someone will adopt it to pass the power of the Light on.

Although it is assumed Himeya died following his battle with Mephisto, an apparition of him would still reach out to Komon during his time as Noa to get back up on his feet after having succeeding to overcome Mizorogi's past deeds in attempting to pull him into despair. In Himeya's memory, Komon shifted from Anphans to adopt Junis and continue his fight with a former teammate.

Much like Ren, Himeya is shown at the end of the series to be very much alive and well.Bond - Nexus -

Transformation[]

To transform into Ultraman Nexus, Himeya removes the cover of the Evoltruster and raises it above or in front of him.

Powers and Weapons[]

  • Dunamist Powers: As a Dunamist, Himeya has the following abilities.
    • ESP: When he was the wielder of the light Himeya demonstrated the ability to search for an object (a lost little girl in a beast hunting ground) with his mind.
    • Endurance: Himeya was able to fight and endure injuries that would cripple most people, many times defeating Space Beasts and driving of Dark Giants even though he was never at full power until his last battle with Dark Mephisto.
    • Strength: During his time as a Dunamist, Himeya was stronger than a normal human being. His muscle strength allowed him to jump several feet into the air to dodge an energy blast.
    • Teleportation: Jun can teleport via a flash of red light. If he is unconscious, the Evoltruster can sense danger and teleport him.
  • Evoltruster: Himeya's transformation device that is shared amongst Nexus' Dunamists.
    • Transformation: Raising the wand-like device after drawing it from its sheath can Himeya transform into Nexus.
    • Shield: Dunamists can raise a shield with the Evoltruster to dispel projectiles.
    • Astral Projection: Touching the Evoltruster within Stone Fluegel allows for Himeya to create an astral projection of Junis which can create an aura of Meta Field in the Dark Field.
    • Presence Detection: Its most important ability, Nexus himself can sense when Space Beasts are running rampant, and alerts his host telepathically. When he detects them a surge of light glows in the Evoltruster.
  • Blast Shot: A sidearm a Dunamist carries with them.
    • Air Burst Mode (エア・バーストモード, Ea Bāsuto Mōdo): Unlike conventional firearms, the Blast Shot's grip is on the same position as the barrel.
      • Vacuum Shockwave: An energy blast fired that can be charged and deliver a massive blast that can vaporize a small Space Beast in one hit.
      • Shields: A shot can be used to raise shields at a distance and dissolve Dark Ultra shields.
      • Exorcism: A special yellow shot can be used to remove pieces of Space Beasts or illusions from a human, safely freeing them from dark powers.
    • Gun Mode (ガンモード, Gan Mōdo): By turning the grip downwards, the Blast Shot can act as a flare gun to summon the Stone Fluegel, Nexus' spacecraft, where the Dunamists can heal their wounds. Ironically despite its name, offensive roles for the weapon has already used by the Air Burst Mode, leaving the Gun Mode on its aforementioned purpose.
