History[]

Ultraman Blazar (manga)[]

Off the coasts of Chigaseki, tentacles had risen from the ocean's depths and began attacking fishing boats and beachgoers alike. Emi, who had been sent by Gento to investigate, speculated that an unknown organism had surfaced due to rising ocean temperatures, and in response, Gento mobilized the SKaRD for a deep sea operation.

Gento and Yasunobu dived to the ocean depths in the Earth Garon and noticed three lights in the distance beckoning them to draw closer, but these lights were actually the lure of the deep sea kaiju Jaranga! Earth Garon kept its distance and moved in with caution, activating its subsea lighting equipment to get a better look, but the sudden flash of light only enraged the kaiju as it lashed back with its tentacles with frightening speed. Earth Garon fought back with its arsenal of high-speed harpoons and managed to tear the kaiju apart, but Jaranga's individual components were still moving and attempted to escape underground.

Discarding its deep sea suit in favor of tunneling equipment, Earth Garon found itself in a subterranean city, but the darkness of the underground meant that the mecha was out of its element as the three Jarangas crept up and drove it into a corner. The Jarangas took this opportunity to destroy Earth Garon's floodlights and knock out the mecha, prompting Gento to get out and distract the Jarangas while reinforcements arrived. He transformed into Ultraman Blazar, who initially had the upper hand until the Jarangas grabbed him by the ankle and started swinging him around.

As Teruaki and Anri arrived to help restart Earth Garon's systems, they were confronted by human-sized Jarangas, which the two disposed of with ease. As one of the larger Jarangas closed in on them, Yasunobu linked the mecha's targeting controls to Emi, who locked onto her target and launched Earth Garon's drill missile, killing the Jaranga instantly and boring a hole into the ceiling, exposing the other Jarangas to the light above. Weakened, the Jarangas were quickly taken care of by Blazar, who used the Rainbow Slash to destroy them all.
