Ippei Baba is the main tritagonist of Gridman the Hyper Agent.
Personality[]
Ippei has a lively and cheerful personality, and he often plays pranks with Naoto, showing his mischievous and humorous side. However, he has a natural talent for machines and possesses exceptional design skills and inspiration. He designed support weapons such as "God Zenon" and "Dyna Dragon."
However, his academic performance is extremely poor. In a mock exam at a preparatory school, he was tied with Naoto for the lowest score in the country. Sometimes he also makes pronunciation errors or misunderstands idioms, and he may also misunderstand or mishear what Naoto says.
However, he is easily attracted to beautiful women and seems to have had crushes on many of them, but the results of these relationships always end up in heartbreak.

Ippei is a second-year student at Sakuragaoka Junior High School. His family runs an interior decoration store called INTERIOR SPACE Aya, including his father Hiroshi, mother Ayako, and sister Kana. He has a close relationship with his friends Naoto and Yuka, and the three of them have built a secret base in the basement of Ippei's house. They are dedicated to collecting used parts to assemble a computer called "Junk" and spend a lot of time researching and developing it. In addition, he is very familiar with money matters and can negotiate prices to purchase computer parts at lower discounts.
One morning, Naoto's younger brother Daichi was sent to Yuka's hospital due to appendicitis. However, due to a misunderstanding where Takeshi thought he was rejected by Yuka when confessing his feelings to her, he felt ashamed and tried to seek revenge by using a computer. As Kahn Digifer teamed up with Takeshi to try to destroy and conquer the real world, Ippei and his friends were also caught up in the abnormal phenomenon.
However, when Ippei was using the drawing software, the CG model he created unexpectedly merged with the super agent who was tracking Kahn Digifer's arrival on Earth, becoming Gridman. As a result, Ippei became aware of the existence of the computer world and decided to assist Gridman in protecting the world.The Birth of a New Hero
In the series, Ippei and Yuka often serve as supporters to monitor Junk and assist Naoto/Gridman in battles in the computer world. Ippei's dream is to become a CG designer, and his artistic skills make him excellent in design and creativity. He develops various Assist Weapons to aid Gridman, earning praise for his "genius-level creativity and sparkling inspiration" from Gridman.
In his spare time, he carefully collects military-related information and public data from universities, which he incorporates into the shape, mechanism, and strength of Assist Weapons. Sometimes, small details and critical moments spark new inspirations for him to create new items.
In addition, Ippei is prone to making mistakes, such as mistyping "GRIDMAN" as "GRIDOMAN" when inputting access codes. However, he is very determined in pursuing his passions and beliefs, and sometimes even passionately inspires those who are in despair.

Powers and Weapons[]
- Artistic Skills: Ippei's sole ability is to design using the computer himself. He is responsible for Gridman's 2D avatar and the rest of the Assist Weapons. His inspiration varies, from conventional vehicles (pictures of military vehicles and Tyrannosaurus) towards the most mundane objects (his Special Dog and an Asian Lung-themed ornament).

- Ippei was supposed to reappear in Gridman the Hyper Agent F, the prototype for SSSS.GRIDMAN, in which he failed the entrance exam for high school and was forced to go to Tsutsujidai Industrial High School, faraway from his hometown Sakuragaoka. There, he would assist Yuta Hibiki in his alter-ego as Gridman to fight against monsters sent by Alexis・Kerib and his human pawn Akane Shinjo.
- Ippei had a crush on Yuka despite her having a crush on Naoto, much to his jealousy.
