is a Japanese animator and anime director who has been involved in theBiography[]
In the late 1970s, Itano joined the animation industry and participated in the production of several science fiction anime series, particularly those with mecha themes. Due to his skills in mechanical design and direction, he gradually gained recognition in the industry. At the end of 1986, Itano and other members of Artland formed a new company called D.A.S.T. However, due to poor management, D.A.S.T. shifted towards production assistance and nurturing new talent. The company was dissolved in 2011. Currently, Itano serves as a video production consultant for Konkichi Co. Ltd.
Known for his style, Itano is renowned for creating three-dimensional, high-speed combat action scenes. He excels in designing action sequences, especially agile movements of mecha characters, which are metaphorically referred to as the "Itano Circus".[1][2]
From 2004 to 2007, Itano served as the CGI team director at Tsuburaya Productions, which had a profound influence on the company's subsequent special effects works.
