Trivia[]
- Mieko Osanai was invited to write this episode by assistant producer Ken Kumagai, a friend of hers from college. She previously wrote for Ultra Q.[1][2]
- In an interview, Osanai recalled that he often visited her home and brought Ultraman Series merchandise for her son (director Gō Rijū). Her son also encouraged her to write for the franchise.
- Osanai stated because she felt she might not be as good as the younger screenwriters from Tsuburaya Productions in writing about heroes, she aimed to create a unique story that still embodies the spirit of Ultraman.
- Kumagai named Sasahiller after Osanai's real surname (Sasahira). However, this caused Osanai's niece to be mocked at school, with her mother scolding Kumagai for having done so.[3]
