When Hyuga and Rei were on a space patrol, they received an SOS call from another reality. Before disappearing, the alternate dimension Hyuga entrusted this mission to Hyuga and Rei.

As Rei and Rei from another dimension witnessed the Imit-Ultra Brothers being transported by Darklops Zero, Hyuga appeared in time to give the original Rei his Neo Battlenizer to summon Gomora and destroy the robots. Afterward, Hyuga managed to capture the mastermind behind the operation, Herodia, but unfortunately, Herodia died after revealing to him that Darklops Zero was not created by them.

Trivia[]

  • As with other members of ZAP SPACY, Hyuga's first name and kanji are only revealed by other sources such as magazines and the official website,[1] as it goes unmentioned in any of his appearances and he is listed in the credits under his last name in katakana.
  • Konishi previously appeared in Ultraman Tiga: The Final Odyssey. He played Nagumo, a member of TPC and a supporter of Project F.
  • In the Roleplay Movie available at Ultraman Festival 2012, Hyuga transforms into Ultraseven. Due to its relative obscurity, Hyuga is not listed among the Ultra Hosts.
  • According to Hiroyuki Konishi's 2021 interview:[2]
    • When he first heard about the audition opportunity for the captain role in the new Ultraman series, he did extensive research and passionately shared his thoughts during the interview. After speaking for an hour, he was informed by the producers that “it had already been decided to cast Konishi,” realizing that his agent had made a mistake. This situation led Konishi to immediately agree to participate in the series.
    • After all the actors were confirmed, Konishi made a personal request to Tsuburaya Productions. He asked to include "Hiroshi" in Captain Hyuga's full name, inspired by his friendship with Hiroshi Tsuburaya, who had collaborated with Konishi several times before his passing in 2001. Given the significance of the role and his desire to honor Tsuburaya's memory by acting in such an important part, Konishi made this request, which was granted with the understanding of producer Hiroyasu Shibuya.
    • During the filming of the two seasons, Konishi struggled with balancing the character of Hyuga and his own personality. However, after watching Gundam, where a character controlled by war instincts is comforted by gentle words from his master, Konishi felt revitalized. Using these ideas as a reference, his portrayal of Hyuga improved, giving his performance a special emotional depth.
    • Among the most memorable scenes, Konishi mentioned the one in Ultra Galaxy Mega Monster Battle: Never Ending Odyssey where he threw the Eye Slugger. He often says, “I am the only person in human history who has thrown the Eye Slugger.” After filming, Konishi kept the Eye Slugger prop, which he still preserves at home.
